After signing a one-year deal with the New York Giants this past offseason, tight end Martellus Bennett says he’d be willing to give the Giants a hometown discount. “I could sit here and tell you I would, but it depends on what it is,” Bennett said, per the Newark Star-Ledger. “You never know until the moment comes. But yeah, that is something I would do. A hometown discount? Yeah.” Bennett said he loves the Giants organization, his teammates and coaches as well as the area. He and his wife, Siggi, hope to buy a home in this area, regardless of if he re-signs with the Giants. There have been no contract talks with the team up to this point, Bennett said. “No, so I have no idea what’s going to happen,” Bennett said. “I would think that they would want me to stay. My first year in the offense, my first year as a starter, I thought I did pretty well. I could have did a lot of things better but it’s so much room for growth, and I finally got a taste of a little success. Hopefully, they want to keep me around, but if not, you never know in this league.” If given another season in the Giants offense, Bennett believes he can be “twice as good” as he was this year. Bennett hopes his next deal is a long-term one. “I’m about to start having kids and stuff,” he said. “My kids need to make friends, and I don’t want to be moving all the time. I would love to have a 4 or 5-year deal.” Martellus indicated that he would love to play with his brtother Michael, who’s currently a member of the Buccaneers, but will also be a free agent after this season. “So it’s just one of those things, you never know what is going to happen,” Bennett said. “I would love to stay here, maybe even get him to come out here. But if not, we’re both looking to play together, at least for a couple years in the NFL like we did in college. I’ll try to get him to come here first, or whatever happens with him.” Is playing with his brother realistic? Other than the fact that Martellus is not sure if “New York can handle two Bennetts.” “It could be a challenge (to make it happen), but then again you never know,” Bennett said. “Every game you play, 32 teams are scouting you, so you never know who is watching, who loves you and who doesn’t. It only takes one team. But I love being a New York Giant, I love the city, I love the people here, and I think it would be the best place for me.”   Need NFL Tickets? var _CI = _CI || {}; (function() { var script = document.createElement('script'); ref = document.getElementsByTagName('script')[0]; _CI.counter = (_CI.counter) ? _CI.counter + 1 : 1; document.write(''); script.type = 'text/javascript'; script.src = 'http://widget.crowdignite.com/widgets/27484?_ci_wid=_CI_widget_'+_CI.counter; script.async = true; ref.parentNode.insertBefore(script, ref); })(); sr_adspace_id = 1000005525107; sr_adspace_width = 300; sr_adspace_height = 250; sr_ad_new_window = true; sr_adspace_type = "graphic";

Tom Coughlin challenges players

With the slumping Giants facing a must-win game for even a hope at qualifying for the playoffs, head coach Tom Coughlin thinks players need to “resurrect a little bit of pride.”

Tom Coughlin on his team: "A group of outstanding character people"

Tom Coughlin knows this is how it goes, one year you’re the champ, the next you’re the chump.  You can’t win them all, but you can win one for pride. The proud Giants need help to get into the playoffs, a little too much help to realistically sit on a wing of hope. However, Coughlin doesn’t quit and he won’ let his team go under either. “That’s what I talked to our...

Giants to let Tuck walk?

After this years disappointing performance the New York Giants are going to need to make some wholesale changes, especially on the defensive side of the ball. Many complain about the secondary but one of the main problems is that their defensive line has gotten old and bad, very fast and that’s the strength of the defense. Gregg Rosenthal of NFL.com suggests that the team could...
