The Victory Formation:
The NFC East made the two most surprising draft day quarterback selections when the Giants grabbed Ryan Nassib and the Philadelphia Eagles snagged Matt Barkley. Nassib isn’t in any immediate plans for the Giants, but Barkley certainly has a chance to show up on Sunday in 2013, if not within a couple of years. There is a misconception that Chip Kelly’s offense requires a QB that possesses Mike Vick like athletic ability, someone who can run particularly fast, and Barkley certainly doesn’t fit that mold. The general thought on Barkley is that he is a prototypical 3, 5, 7 step drop back QB. That appears to be how Barkley sees himself as well, because he has never been asked to run an offense like the one Kelly put together while at Oregon. But Barkley is up to the challenge to assimilate himself into the style Kelly wants to run. “You know, I’ll make it fit,” Barkley said, via CSNPhilly.com. “It doesn’t matter what plays we run, I’m going to find a way to help this team out, and I know Coach Kelly has a way of working things out as well in terms of how he schemes and how he [...]

When the Eagles scooped up Matt Barkley in the fourth-round of last month's draft, the prevailing thought was he'd hold a clipboard for a few seasons.
However, the former Trojan's time could be coming sooner than later.

The Philadelphia Inquirer bizarrely contends rookie Matt Barkley could “get the nod” over Michael Vick to start under center for the Eagles against the Washington Redskins in Landover on September 9. Unlike Vick, the 22-year-old Barkley was personally chosen out of USC by new Eagles head coach Chip Kelly with the 98th pick in April’s draft. With the sullied Trojan fully recovered...

The super-fast pace of practices. The communications that will change the league, at least according to Brent Celek.

Former NFL quarterback and ESPN NFL analyst Trent Dilfer told 97.5 The Fanatic in Philly that rookie Matt Barkley reminds him of Eli Manning. “I thought he was a first round talent,” Dilfer said, per Black Sports Online. “But when you look at his film, I was really intrigued because of what he does as a player, are really graduate level things. Line of scrimmage control,...
A Philadelphia Inquirer report indicates that Matt Barkley could be the Eagles' Week 1 starter at quarterback.Fantasy Spin:The other candidates are Mike Vick and Nick Foles. Barkley fell all the way to the fourth round at the draft last month after entering the 2012 season as a possible No. 1 pick. “I mean right now, you’ve got Mike going with the ones,” said Maclin, “and Nick [Foles] sprinkling in some reps here and there.”
Maclin was asked about rookie quarterback Matt Barkley...
