ESPN’s Mike Sando tosses out Seahawks QB Matt Flynn as a speculative option for the Raiders if they do in fact release QB Carson Palmer in the next few weeks. “If Palmer left the Raiders, Oakland could be in the market for a quarterback such as … Seattle’s Matt Flynn? Raiders general manager Reggie McKenzie was in Green Bay when Flynn was there,” writes Sando. “It’s something to keep in mind.“ Adam Schefter reported on Monday that it’s ”highly unlikely” that Palmer will restructure his current deal that will pay him $13 million for 2013 season, which leaves him as a candidate to be released. Oakland would be left with Terrelle Pryor as their only quarterback option. They have been connected to West Virginia QB Geno Smith in recent days, so he could be in playing for them at No. 3 overall. The trade market for Flynn has been almost nonexistent thus far, and Seattle seems to be ok keeping Flynn as their backup next, despite his $5.25 million base salary for the upcoming season. It most likely wouldn’t require more than a mid-round pick to acquire him, but if the Raiders are seriously considering releasing Palmer, then it probably makes more sense for them to target Geno at No. 3 overall.
