Chicago Bears running back Matt Forte joked that he may be hard to find next season if the Bears place the franchise tag on him.
Forte and the Bears tried to get a deal done during the season, but were never able to close the large gap that currently separates both parties.
“A lot of teams franchise guys so that they can get a deal done or negotiate a deal,” Forte said on “The Carmen, Jurko & Harry Show” on ESPN 1000. “It just depends on what the motive of that is.”
If Forte gets the feeling that the Bears aren’t interested in giving him a long term extension and still franchise him, he might hold out.
“I wouldn’t say holdout, but people probably wouldn’t know where I was,” said Forte. He does feel like there’s a “pretty good chance” he’ll end up getting franchised.
