This year Hasselbeck had a total of 3,571 passing yards. This not only ranks him fourth in franchise history, but it is also the highest total yardage of any Titans or Oilers quarterback within their first season with a team, Rookie or Free Agent. He is also only the second quarterback (Warren Moon 1989-1991) in Titans/Oilers history to pass more than 3,500 yard in a season.
This year he completed 28 passes all of which averaged 25 or more yards. It is the most by a Titans quarterback since Steve McNair’s 32 completions of 25 or more yards in 2001.
Hasselbeck is a hard working quarterback and though most wouldn’t rank him among guys like Tom Brady, Aaron Rogers, and Drew Brees, he still deserves a lot of recognition. He brought a team back from behind in a lot of games in a season where no one, including professionals, thought they would even have a winning record.
Proving everyone wrong and leaving the 2011 season with a record of 9-7 Hasselbeck is proud of his accomplishments and ...

2011 Tennessee Titans and play-calling by quarter
The Tennessee Titans were not a great offense in the first quarter. They struggled to sustain drives, and even in a game like the one against the Saints where they opponent wasn't scoring touchdowns, they were running a lot more plays than the Titans did.The Tennessee Titans were not a great running team. They (by which I pretty much mean Chris Johnson) struggled to get into...
Tennessee Titans 2011 Review: Top 5 Stories
The 2011 version of the Tennessee Titans began with adversity and low expectations. With lockouts and holdouts, new coaches and new quarterbacks, outside of Nashville, there wasn’t much hope. But it proved to be a storied season and one that was three wins better than the previous. For a good part of the year, the Titans stayed within grasp of winning the AFC South. Unfortunately...
The Tennessee Titans and third down running in 2011
I mentioned this in my post last week where I overviewed the offensive line, but the Tennessee Titans finished third in the NFL in Football Outsiders' Power rushing statistic on offense. Power runs are, well, here's the definition: "Percentage of runs on third or fourth down, two yards or less to go, that achieved a first down or touchdown. Also includes runs on first...
A full season of Kenny Britt yields ... Calvin Johnson?
In writing up the post where I named Matt Hasselbeck the 2011 Tennessee Titans Offensive MVP, I thought about who I would have named in past seasons. 2009, Chris Johnson was an easy call. 2008, I think I did name Michael Roos, in honor of the overall team offensive effort. For 2010, it was Kenny Britt, with whom the Titans were a pretty good offense and without whom, well, they weren...
Bears Strike Out on Titans Assistant
The Tennessee Titans had the last word when they turned down the Chicago Bears permission to interview quarterbacks coach Dowell Loggains for a similar post with the Bears. Bears fans remember last offseason when Chicago rebuffed the Titans attempts to lure then offensive line coach Mike Tice to Nashville to become Tennessee’s offensive coordinator. The Bears still have...
Titans won’t let Bears talk to their quarterbacks coach
Titans quarterbacks coach Dowell Loggains will remain the Titans’ quarterbacks coach, despite overtures from the Bears about a job that would give Loggains a better title and more responsibilities. The Bears were interested in Loggains as passing game coordinator, but Loggains is under contract and Titans coach Mike Munchak denied the Bears’ request to interview…
Titans Executive Lake Dawson To Interview For Rams GM Job
Tennessee Titans vice president of football operations Lake Dawson will interview for the St. Louis Rams general manager opening, TitanInsider has confirmed. Dawson has been with the Titans organization for five years, coming over when Mike Reinfeldt was named general manager in 2007. In that time, he has overseen the pro personnel side of the organization, responsible for evaluating...
An Open Letter to Tarvaris Jackson
Dear Tarvaris,
Hey, it’s Seattle. Looking back at this year, we’ve been through a lot together, haven’t we?
When Pete Carroll brought you in to replace Matt Hasselbeck, fans were unimpressed. You didn’t really do anything worthwhile when you were the starting quarterback in Minnesota, even playing terrible at times. An average NFL fan’s perspective of you was a young...
