Found October 03, 2012 on Football Nation:
It might seem a little early to start talking about possible MVP's after only four games, but it is still fun to speculate. After the first four games of the season, Matt Ryan has led the Falcons to its first 4-0 start since the 1980's.  He is also the league leader in quarterback rating at an astounding 112.1.  He is second in the league with 11 touchdowns, trailing only Drew Brees.  He is sixth in passing yards at 1,162.  He is second only to Aaron Rodgers with a 69.4 completion percentage.  He has done this while only throwing 2 interceptions so far on the young season. If you take these stats and multiply them over the final 3/4 of the season, then Matty Ice will finish the season with 44 touchdowns, 4,648 passing yards and only 8 interceptions.  These totals would greatly surpass his personal best as well as many other Falcon records along the way.But what makes Matt Ryan's season that much better is how he has won as well has who he has beaten so far.  In the first g...

Slow down: Matt Ryan isn’t an ‘Elite’ quarterback yet

All of this talk of Atlanta Falcons’ Matt Ryan being an ‘Elite’ quarterback or even becoming ‘Elite’ has got to end. Sorry Falcon fans, but if throwing for 290.5 yards and game makes you an ‘Elite’ quarterback, than Tony Romo is an elite quarterback. Has Matt Ryan been playing extremely well? Absolutely, throwing for 290.5 a games with 11 touchdowns, which is almost...

Matt Ryan Developing Into Elite Quarterback, Has Falcons on Brink of Greatness as Super Bowl Contender

The term "elite" seems to be thrown around far too often in the NFL. This quarterback, that running back, plenty of players have the chance to reach that coveted status among the best in football. But only a select few ever truly reach that peak during their careers. This season, there are a handful of players inching ever closer to claiming that coveted reputation. Right...

Ryan stirring MVP talk with best start of career

Matt Ryan keeps shrugging off any suggestion that he's trying to make up for his playoff failures. Whatever the case, the Atlanta Falcons quarterback has taken his game to a new level. A quarter of the way into the season, Ryan is the NFL's top-rated passer and a big reason the Falcons (4-0) have matched the best start in franchise history. True to his nature, Ryan dismisses...

Smith calls first-place Falcons an imperfect 4-0

The Atlanta Falcons are an imperfect 4-0. That was the message from coach Mike Smith on Monday, one day after Atlanta's 30-28 win over Carolina. Matt Ryan, whose health is crucial to the Falcons' continued success, was sacked a career-high seven times. Smith says pass protection must improve but the line doesn't deserve all the blame. Smith says the defense gave up...

Atlanta Falcons Perched Comfortably Atop The NFC South

Atlanta Falcons QB Matt Ryan is delivering on his potential this season. I’m still reeling from the amazing finish to the Falcons/Panthers game on Sunday. With mere seconds left and all the way at their own 2 yard line, the Falcons, or shall I say Matt Ryan and Roddy White with a little help from Matt Bryant’s leg, pulled off the kind of thing that makes last year’s non...

Falcons-Redskins Preview

Just four games into the season, the Atlanta Falcons have already built a sizable NFC South lead. That hasn't kept them from realizing they have a long way to go. Matt Ryan looks to guide Atlanta to its first 5-0 start Sunday when Robert Griffin III tries to help the Washington Redskins end their seven-game home losing streak. Heading into 2012 with an 0-3 playoff record since...

2012 First Quarter NFL Offensive Player Awards

It’s hard to believe that the NFL season has already hit October.  We’ve had 4 and a half weeks of great plays, bad calls, horrible replacement refs and a New York Jets team that should go into hibernation until 2013 Rookie Mini Camp.  However I think we need to focus on the positives of this season thus far.  Thus, here are my 2012 1st Quarter Offensive Awards:2012 NFL Offensive...

Keys for the Redskins to Upset the Falcons

The Redskins will host the Falcons at 1:00 PM on Sunday and look to hand Atlanta their first loss on the season. Redskins Nation knows that the key match-up of this game is going to be Matt Ryan and the explosive Falcon offense vs. the Redskins defense, and in particular the secondary. There is little doubt that Atlanta is going to put points on the board so more than likely, per...

Fantasy football start em sit em week 5

Andy Dalton, Cincinnati Bengals vs. Miami Dolphins: This should be an interesting game. Is Miami better than we thought or can Cincy handle their business? Well either way you should use Andy Dalton here.

Week 5 NFL Picks Against the Spread

Written By: Kyle Newton (@KNewt22) Teams in CAPS indicate home team. Sunday, October 7th Can RGIII and the Redskins hand the Falcons their first loss of the year? (Courtesy NFL) Atlanta (-3) over WASHINGTON The Falcons are on a role right now at 4-0 and I don’t expect that trend to stop. Matt Ryan is playing like an elite quarterback and has the Falcons ahead of their entire division...

Week 5 Fantasy Football Preview: Falcons vs. Redskins

The Atlanta Falcons escaped with a comeback victory over the Carolina Panthers and stayed undefeated at 4-0.The Falcons' offense has been on a roll all season long and facing a porous defense that offense won't slow down this week. The Washington Redskins are coming in at 2-2 and have only committed two turnovers through the first two weeks. The two turnovers are a shocking...
