Sunday couldn’t have gone much better for Matt Schaub.
After throwing for 266 yards and a touchdown to defeat the Dolphins, 30-10, the Texans quarterback signed a four-year contract extension.
The new deal, which keeps Schaub in Houston through 2016, is worth $62 million and includes $24.75 million in guarantees.
Schaub was set to make $7.15 million in the final year of his now previous pact, and the assumption was he’d have to prove himself before the team locks him up.
So much for that line of thinking.
The 31-year-old has not only established himself as one of the game’s upper-tier quarterbacks, but also a perfect fit for coach Gary Kubiak’s offensive attack.
