After leading his team to a 30-10 victory, Houston quarterback Matt Schaub signed a four year, 62 million dollar contract extension (Credit: AP Photo) Just after the Texans scored a 30-10 win over the Dolphins, word broke that Schaub and the team had agreed to a four-year contract extension. Schaub was set to become a free agent after the season, but now he’ll be with the Texans through the 2016 season. “I’m very excited to continue to make Houston our home,” Schaub said, via the Houston Chronicle. “I’m happy to get it so both sides are happy about it.” Mark Berman of FOX 26 reports that the deal is worth $62 million with $24.75 million guaranteed. Per Berman, the Texans restructured cornerback Jonathan Joseph’s deal to get Schaub’s contract done. Those are numbers that make it clear that the Texans see Schaub as a quarterback that can lead them to the Super Bowl. He lost his chance last season because of a foot injury, but the Texans should be in position to make another playoff run this year. It was thought he’d need to stay healthy to get the extension, but the Texans obviously feel confident on that front. Schaub threw for 266 yards and a touchdown Sunday, his first regular season game since suffering that foot injury last season.
