Houston Texans quarterback Matt Schaub told the media on Friday that he’s 100 percent healthy and ready to go after suffering a season-ending Lisfranc injury to his last season.

“I’m ready to go,” Schaub said Friday, per the Houston Chronicle.

Texans head coach Gary Kubiak said that Schaub could have participated in OTA’s, but he was held out as a precaution.  He’ll also not participate in next week’s minicamp.

“We know what Matt’s capable of, and we’re expecting big things from him,” Kubiak said. “He’ll work as hard as anybody. He and Andre are going to have to stay at it.”

Houston Texans QB Matt Schaub proclaims he’s 100 percent healthy

The Houston Texans are the preseason favorite to repeat as AFC South divisional champions and in some circles, are a trendy pick to represent the AFC in this year’s Super Bowl after heading deep into the playoffs last season. The Texans achieved their franchise first playoff berth last season with rookie QB T.J. Yates under center, but will start the season with veteran Matt Schaub...

Texans' Schaub 'ready to go'

Houston Texans quarterback Matt Schaub is getting his work in on a side practice field and preparing for training camp next month. “I’m ready to go,” Schaub told the Houston Chronicle. Schaub, who underwent surgery on his right foot last season after he was injured in Week 10, said he’s fully recovered. But the Texans are being cautious and holding him out of OTAs and...

Texans’ Matt Schaub says he’s 100%

Matt Schaub suffered a broken foot week 11 last year, effectively killing the then 7-3 Texans’ Super Bowl chances, which were just starting to look promising. TJ Yates played admirably and probably better than anyone would have expected, but the Texans still lost in the AFC Semis to the Baltimore Ravens. Now 7 months removed from the injury, Schaub says he’s 100%. He won’t...

The Texans were much better than the Titans in 2011

Lately, I've seen some chatter about how the Titans are being unfairly neglected in talking about who might win the AFC South in 2012. After all, the thinking goes, the Titans only finished one game behind the Texans in 2011, and in the offseason the Texans got worse and the Titans got better. The AFC South, so goes the line of argument, should be a very competitive race at the...

Is Ochocinco the Answer for the Texans?

If you have listened to any of our Luv Ya Steel Blue podcasts, you have heard me bang the table more than once for the Houston Texans to possibly look into Chad Ochocinco as a potential wide receiver before he ended up in New England. Well the Patriots have decided to end the Ochocinco experiment and release him to the NFL unemployment line. Coming off of his worst season as a NFL...

SOTT Fan Favorite: Final Four

This is a winner take all competition between past players who used to suit up for the Houston Texans. Players currently on the roster are not eligible for the competition.  We have tried to cut down the list of the most popular players with the fans. There will be some names left off but we picked the top 16 former Texans players to play for the good guys. Now we are down to...

Matty Ice Getting The Cold Shoulder

It’s very possible by the time this post comes out, people will have figured out about Matt Ryan and what he can do for their team.  I get that but right now I’m looking at a quarterback who is being overlooked given his set-up.  Though I’m sure he won’t hold here, having him currently sit as the 16th best QB off the board behind Matt Schaub and – YIKES – Tim Tebow...

Houston Texans Coaches, Players Weigh in on Completion of OTAs

At the conclusion of the Texans’ final organized team activity of the summer, several coaches and players expressed their impressions of OTAs and where the club is headed in the ensuing weeks and months leading up to the start of the season. The main focuses were injuries and progression, particularly of the young players. Regarding injuries, the most pressing injury at...

Will the Houston Texans Pursue Terrell Owens, Chad Ochocinco?

Sometimes NFL teams get desperate. Sometimes that desperation can lead to questionable moves. The question is, with Andre Johnson still sidelined with his third injury in two years and with polarizing veteran wide receivers Terrell Owens and Chad Ochocinco on the market, how desperate are the Houston Texans? There is no sugar coating the Texans’ current situation at wide...
