Matthew Stafford still ranked among elite QBs in most recent national rankings

The Los Angeles Rams know that Matthew Stafford won't be around forever.

Les Snead, and the rest of the Rams' front office, are attempting to put together one final run for the quarterback who won a Super Bowl two seasons ago.

But Stafford can still play. He is no slouch. And recently, the Rams' starting quarterback was ranked No. 11 in Bleacher Reports' latest top-12 quarterback rankings.

Here is what Bleacher Report had to say about Stafford's current ranking:

"Stafford ranked in the top eight leaguewide in both yards per attempt and QBR in 2023," writes Brad Gagnon, a national writeer for Bleacher report. "His third-down passer rating ranked second to only Dak Prescott among quarterbacks with at least 100 attempts under such circumstances.

"Slowly declining play keeps Stafford out of the top 10 here, but the longtime starter in Detroit and L.A. undoubtedly remains an above-average NFL quarterback."

Stafford's production in 2023 was a step up from his injured 2022 campaign. He threw nearly 4,000 yards and 24 touchdowns. It helped that he had a great rookie receiver in Puka Nacua, and a solid running back in Kyren Williams, still, Stafford led a Rams team many expected to be rebuilding back to the playoffs.

For his return to form in the 2023 season, Stafford remains a top-12 quarterback. One might argue he deserves to be higher on the list, but that is subjective.

Ahead of Stafford on the list are Tua Tagovailoa (No. 10), Joe Burrow (No. 9) and Jared Goff (No. 8). The quarterback ranked behind Stafford on the list is Justin Herbert (No. 12).
