Maurice Jones-Drew is a former NFL rushing champion on the free agent market and looking for one more payday. Unfortunately for him, he may have to wait a bit longer than he’d like to get it. Despite reports that the Dolphins, Jets, Patriots and Steelers are all interested in acquiring MJD’s services, landing with a team at the price he believes he deserves could be tricky. According to the New York Post, Jones-Drew may have to wait until late into training camp or even the beginning of the season to get his asking price, and MJD is apparently willing to do just that. While Jones-Drew’s agent is expected to meet with several teams at the NFL owners meetings this week, a league source said the league’s 2011 rushing champion thinks he is worth at least $3 million per year and is willing to wait out the market. The source said Jones-Drew might be willing to wait until late in the summer or even into the season as an injury replacement if teams aren’t willing to meet his price. Seems like Jones-Drew is more interested in getting the right check than finding the right situation. Gotta get that paper I guess. We’ll see how this plays out, but you don’t usually see an aging running back coming off of back-to-back supbar seasons get a nice contract. It might be a long wait for Maurice Jones-Drew this off-season.

Patriots reportedly amongst teams interested in Maurice Jones-Drew

The convergence of all 32 teams to Orlando for annual league meetings was expected to grease the skids on some player movement the Patriots could be involved in, including the ongoing DeSean Jackson situation in Philly. By the sounds of it, they could also become a bit of a battleground site for a number of teams competing for a big name: former Jaguars running back Maurice Jones...

Patriots reportedly interested in Maurice Jones-Drew

Although they are staying in touch with LeGarrette Blount, it appears that the Patriots are also keeping their options open in case they can't retain Blount as the team is interested in taking a look at Maurice Jones-Drew. Steelers Interest in Blount Just a Message to MJD?

I wrote last week I didn’t understand why the Steelers were showing interesting in free agent LaGarette Blount. SteelDad has mentioned he’s worried the Rooney’s want to go back to ground and pound football. The more I started to think about it, the more I’ve started wondering if the Steelers are using Blount to try to push Maurice Jones-Drew into signing. The two backs and...

Blount Visit a Head Scratcher

SteelDad said last week that the Steelers should pass on Maurice Jones Drew and James Harrison. Personally I wouldn’t be opposed to either of those guys. I’m lukewarm on Harrison but I think that if it were for the right price Maurice Jones-Drew could provide some quality carries for the Steelers and also mentor the young Le’Veon Bell. I’ve spoken with several Yinzers around...
