Andy McCollum has interviewed for a coaching job with Georgia Tech, according to a report in the Charlotte Observer. Jacketsonline.com reported Monday afternoon that McCollum had accepted a job as defensive line coach and recruiting coordinator. N.C. State athletic director Lee Fowler told the Observer that McCollum hadn’t made up his mind as of Monday afternoon. Officials at Tech have declined to comment. McCollum is from Marietta and his father still resides there. McCollum recruited Atlanta for the Wolfpack, and is a longtime friend of Tech coach Paul Johnson. McCollum coached linebackers at N.C. State. However, Tech defensive coordinator Al Groh will coach linebackers for the Jackets. McCollum, 50, would replace Giff Smith, who recently accepted a job with the Buffalo Bills. McCollum has been with the Wolfpack for the past three seasons.
