TEAMS: Cleveland Browns
If it comes to [being traded], if they decide to do something, [I'll deal with it] at that point. But no one has said anything to me yet, and there’s no place I’d rather be than here. I’m invested in this city and this team, and I wouldn’t have it any other way. [...] You hear all of the rumors. I keep a real tight mind-set that my job is quarterback for the Cleveland Browns. And I’m going to go out here and compete and give my best to this city and this organization, because this is where I was drafted, and I don’t want to be anywhere else.
– Cleveland Browns quarterback Colt McCoy, Sunday, to Mary Kay Cabot of The Plain Dealer. McCoy, who has posted a 105.1 passer rating through his five preseason series, is rumored to potentially be on the move, removing all controversy surrounding the quarterback position for the Browns. • What a pro! I love this guy for his great standards. Cleveland should be ashamed of how they have underhanded this situation. I have followed McCoy for years and his stats don"t lie but when you set him up with NO protection, what do you expect. He will play through this and come out on top no matter where he goes. Watch and see how things play out . Go Colt!

Ex-starter McCoy 'proud' to be with Browns

Colt McCoy insists he is happy in Cleveland even though he no longer starts for the Browns. McCoy said after practice Tuesday that being replaced at quarterback by rookie Brandon Weeden hasn't made him ask to be traded. The former Texas star, who started 13 games a year ago before being sidelined by a concussion, maintains that he is proud to play for Cleveland. The Browns...

Cleveland Browns Training Camp Report: 8/21/12

Brandon Weeden probably won’t like much of what he sees from the film of this practice. It wasn’t interceptions or drops, but rather passes that were off the mark. In my nearly half dozen practices this year, it was Weeden’s most inconsistent performance. At least in 11 on 11 drills. There were the two passes that sailed over Greg Little’s head for example. Or the out route...

Allowing Myself To Think (Some) Good Thoughts About The Browns

It took a second viewing of Thursday night’s blowout victory against the Green Bay Packers for it to sink in, but there were plenty of things to take away in a cautiously optimistic fashion. While I’m on the record (or soon will be) that I don’t think the Browns will be making any drastic moves northward in the standings that will result in making the playoffs or anything like...

Colt McCoy says he doesn’t want to be anywhere but Cleveland

AP Cleveland Browns quarterback Colt McCoy told the Cleveland Plain Dealer that he doesn’t want to leave Cleveland. “If it comes to that, if they decide to do something, [I'll deal with it] at that point,” McCoy said. “But no one has said anything to me yet, and there’s no place I’d rather be than here. I’m invested in this city and this team, and I wouldn’t have...

Rookies Hughes, Winn contribute to Browns defense

For the second year in a row, the Cleveland Browns have two rookies making an impact on their defensive line. First-round picks Trent Richardson at running back and Brandon Weeden at quarterback got the draft-day attention. Linemen John Hughes and Billy Winn hope to show that later-round selections can make a difference, too. Both said after practice Monday that they are trying...

Brandon Weeden Must Be Great Or The Cleveland Browns Will Move On

Everything is coming up roses in Cleveland because rookie quarterback Brandon Weeden looked much improved in last week’s preseason game against the Green Bay Packers. While it always is a good thing to see young players perform well even under preseason conditions, as with everything else in August, it also is good not to get too “up” or too “down” about anything. Everyone...

Travis Benjamin getting 1st-team reps with Browns

Cleveland Browns 4th-round pick Travis Benjamin has reportedly been getting some first-team reps in three-receivers sets. Benjamin is vastly undersized (5’10″, 175 pounds) but may be the faster receiver on the Browns roster. So while he probably won’t be taking many balls away from Greg Little or Mohamed Massaquoi, he could be used as a deep threat (and as a decoy). The Browns...

Football fun again for Browns RB Hardesty

The Cleveland Browns are getting surprising production at running back in the preseason. This unexpected help is coming from Montario Hardesty and not No. 3 overall pick Trent Richardson. Coach Pat Shurmur said Sunday that Hardesty is making the most of increased playing time since Richardson had knee surgery Aug. 9. Except for Hardesty's costly fumble on the first play at...

Trent Richardson progressing well in rehab

Trent Richardson disappointed some fantasy owners that drafted early when it became known that the first year player from Alabama would require surgery on his injured left knee. Those owners may not miss too much time from their early round draft pick, as it appears Richardson may be back sooner than first thought. According to a report by beat writer Nate Ulrich on twitter, head...

Trent Richardson could be back at practice “soon”

AP With Cleveland Browns running back Trent Richardson reportedly ahead of schedule in his rehab from arthroscopic knee surgery, head coach Pat Shurmur believes he could be back at practice soon. “He’s getting better every day so his progress has been outstanding,” Shurmur said, per  “I think he’s 10 days out now, so he’s about where we thought he’d...

Shurmur: James-Michael Johnson Might Start for Fujita

Getting any kind of commitment from an NFL head coach prior to roster cutdowns is a miracle. This is not to criticize Pat Shurmur. There is a lot of football and a lot of moving pieces between now and the opening week against the Philadelphia Eagles. One piece that won’t be moving is Scott Fujita serving his suspension. One of the biggest questions the Browns needed to answer this...

Browns’ Josh Gordon reportedly looking brilliant in practice

AP According to Steve Doerschuk of the, rookie wide receiver Josh Gordon has looked great over the past couple of practices. “After some rough spots in training camp, Gordon looked brilliant — at least in the context of Browns wide receivers — for a second straight practice,” wrote Doerschuk. It would be a pleasant surprise if Gordon can come out of no where...

Cameron Catching On

Basketball-player-turned-tight end Jordan Cameron is progressing nicely in his second season with the Cleveland Browns.

Richardson ahead of schedule

Some good news out of Cleveland today. Cleveland Browns head coach Pat Shurmur told the media that first round draft pick Trent Richardson is making progress and could be ahead of schedule. Richardson had a routine scope on his left knee about ten days ago and it’s hopeful that he returns for Week 1. If he’s indeed healthy and ready to go that would be a boost to the offense...
