Baltimore Sun:
Defensive tackle Brandon McKinney filled in for defensive end Cory Redding against the Pittsburgh Steelers, earning his first start since 2007.
With Redding recovering nicely from the concussion that kept him out of the game against the Steelers, McKinney’s status for this Sunday against the Denver Broncos is an uncertainty – even to him.
“I’ve been out there running with everybody – the ones and whatnot,” McKinney said. “No official word yet though.”
McKinney finished with just one sack against Pittsburgh, but he said he’s not worried about his statistics.
“I’m not really a big numbers guy,” he said. “On the D-line, it’s more than just about making tackles and getting sacks sometimes. Sometimes it’s about holding off the blocks and opening things for the linebackers. So I just want to go out there and play hard and make the plays I’m supposed to make.”
