Mckinnie

There are a ton of questions surrounding the signing of Offensive Tackle Bryant McKinnie, one of course being where he fits into the Ravens lineup. For eight seasons with the Minnesota Vikings he played Left tackle, a position currently filled by Michael Oher. Apparently that question has been answered as McKinnie recently appeared on ESPN radio’s “The Brian Kenny Show”.

“Yeah, they told me I’m going to play left, and I guess slide Oher over to right,”

If that is true and McKinnie passes his physical it may be the Ravens best chance for short term success. The move would allow Marshall Yanda to stay at Guard and move Michael Oher back to Right Tackle where he played fairly well as a rookie.

The long-term effects could be more damaging. How would Oher respond to such a move? Oher was signed as the future at Left Tackle and he would have to wonder if this means that the Ravens confidence in is shaken in him being able to do the job. There is also McKinnie who comes to Baltimore with plenty of talent but load of baggage as well.

The Ravens will put McKinnie through a physical today, and if he passes, his two-year contract worth up to $7.5 million will become official.
