DENTON, Texas - North Texas basketball snapped its four game losing streak when it held on late to take down the South Alabama Jaguars 82-79 Thursday night at the Super Pit. Four members of the Mean Green (17-8, 6-6) scored in double figures, with senior Tristan Thompson leading the way with 18 points and six rebounds. The double digit scoring effort was Thompson's 22nd of the season. Trailing by as many as eight to South Alabama (10-14, 4-9), North Texas turned it around in the second half, outscoring the Jaguars by eight in the final frame, 48-40. The Mean Green forced 12 turnovers and outscored the Jaguars 40-28 in the paint. With the game on the line late, North Texas got to the free throw line and showed why it is among one of the best free-throw shooting teams in the Sun Belt Conference, converting 77.8 percent of its 27 shots from the charity stripe.
