PLAYERS: Peter KingKurt Warner

Our excitement in fallout from the Super Bowl has plateaued, with the only items of note being Brandon Jacobs telling Gisele to shut up, Kurt Warner stoking tedious “Is Eli a Hall of Famer yet?” discussions and Greg Jones’ mom appearing less than thrilled about his son’s on-field proposal to this white woman. While we wait a few days before the Bucs decide to already fire Greg Schiano, we’re left to make more fun of our own, preferably at the expense of our favorite anti-football poetry enthusiast, Peter King. Watching Super Bowl postgame interviews, I noticed PK shoehorning himself in the camera shot like an everyday me-first GLORY BOY. At first, I wasn’t sure why I found the image funny, but then we realized that his bewildered expression lent itself well to Photoshops, and that was all the inspiration we needed. Laughable face, PK has it. ‘Shops after the jump. As always, you’re encouraged to add your own in the comments, whether yo...

Warcraft Wednesday: The Super Bowl Is AND It Isn't

The Super Bowl. The most EPIC day of the year. That's from that stupid Visa commercial. Every time I heard that this year I wanted to kill everyone in sight and even some people I couldn't see who were behind me. Jesus Christ, marketing sucks donkey these days. Point being, the Super Bowl is a weird thing, and who better to tackle the elusiveness of the event than our favorite...

There's no such thing as NFL commentary anymore. It's nothing but so much noise

(STEPS ON SOAPBOX) I'm going to be blunt. I'm tired. Not of blogging in general or writing about actual, God honest news. But I am tired of ********. And there's been entirely too much of it as of late. The past 2 weeks of over-the-top hype, then vast amounts of post Super Bowl reaction, have sent me over the edge. I'm glad football season is over. Not just Glad...

King: Super Bowl storylines

There are so many storylines in the wake of the Giants' 21-17 Super Bowl XLVI win over the Pats, writes Peter King. But none was bigger than what Eli Manning did in the final minutes.

Three Ideas for Changing the Hall of Fame Voting Process

Is there room for more busts of worthy people in Canton? Let’s not slam the Hall of Fame voters; the problem is not with who they vote in, it is how they are voted (or not voted) in. It is difficult (and pointless) to make an argument against any of the 267 members. Usually, where fans get the most heartburn, is arguing for someone who did not get in. Every year there are worthy...

Butch Davis lands in Tampa

The Bucs have been having a hard time hiring key assistants for new coach Greg Schiano’s staff.  They’ve finally landed one of the men Schiano coveted. Peter King of SI.com reported last month that Schiano wanted to hire Butch Davis, either to be the team’s defensive coordinator or to be an assistant head coach.  Alex…

10 takeaways from Super Bowl XLVI, from NBC SportsTalk

We usually open up our Monday night in-season editions of NBC SportsTalk with a rundown of the 10 things to know about the NFL. Since there’s nothing to really know now that the NFL season is finally over, Peter King, Russ Thaler, and I reviewed 10 takeaways from Sunday night’s game. Here they are, if…

Debating the Welker “drop”

Tonight’s 90-minute, sleep-deprivation edition of NBC SportsTalk, which got rolling only nine hours after Peter King and I wrapped up a two-hour show live from the floor of Lucas Oil Stadium, included several spirited debates. And here’s one of them. The key misfire late in the fourth quarter of Super Bowl XLVI, which came with…
