Bleed Black & Gold:
Scott Brown is reporting that Rashard Mendenhall has not ruled out playing week 1 of the regular season for the Steelers. Mendenhall went down in the last week of the season versus Cleveland. Week 1 would be a nine month recovery. That would be good for someone like Casey Hampton who does not have to move laterally. For Mendenhall though that quick of a recovery would be out of this world.
The stress that is put on his knees by making cuts will be a lot to bear. It normally takes a full year to recover to 100% from an ACL. It normally takes two years before you are yourself again. If Mendenhall is ready to go week one I would not expect it to be the Mendenhall that you are used to seeing. Having him on the field though could be a big lift.

The Pittsburgh Steelers have completed their first two OTA practices of the 2012 season and quite a good bit of information has come out since the team has reassembled this week in Pittsburgh. The past few days we received confirmation on what we already knew heading into the week and that is that there are two fullbacks on the roster in the form of David Johnson and Will Johnson...

The Pittsburgh Steelers have very few needs at this point in the off-season. The draft addressed the most pivotal of those with new offensive linemen, another body to play nose tackle and an additional running back.
Just because the primary needs have been filled, that does not mean that the Steelers roster is in perfect shape now. The best front offices in the league...
Pittsburgh Steelers running back Rashard Mendenhall believes that he’ll not only play in 2012, but he could be ready for the season opener on September 9th.
“There’s always the possibility,” Mendenhall said. “I’ll be back at some point. It’s just a matter of what point that is.”
The Steelers haven’t been as optimistic since Mendenhall tore his ACL on...

According to an article in the Pittsburgh Post Gazette, by Harrisburg Bureau Chief Laura Olson, the former Steelers receiver was in Harrisburg, PA today to be honored by Govenor Tom Corbett.

A player who normally does not attend OTAs was out on the field today for the Steelers. Safety Troy Polamlu who never attends these practices and works out with his own trainer in California was present today. Troy plans on being at all OTAs and minicamps this season.
”It’s my time to be around the team a little more.”
Troy knows what he is doing. He knows this team...
James Harrison was a shell of his formerly fearsome self last year, but the 34-year-old told SCI.net publisher Jim Wexell that he's feeling much better this spring.
According to Ed Bouchette of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Steelers safety Troy Polamalu is in attendance for this week’s OTA’s, which is kind of surprise since he typically works out in Los Angeles with a trainer.
Maybe Polamalu realizes that working out with his teammates is better for the Steelers as a team.
If you don’t know by now that Steelers LB James Harrison hates dislikes NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell, you probably haven’t paid much attention to the last few years of punishment in the league. Harrison said at one point “If that man was on fire and I had to piss to put him out, I wouldn’t do it” He later retracted the statements and said he used a poor word-choice...

For any of you that have read my work on Steelers Depot, you may know a few things about me. The one that relates to this article is how I like writing analysis pieces about articles on NFL.com. While I am a fan of football and a connoisseur of its subtle nuances, a better word to describe me is a critic. More accurately a hater. When I say hate, I don’t...
Trai Essex says he shouldn't be counted out of the left tackle derby quite yet.
The Pittsburgh Steelers will open their first OTA on Tuesday and the team will get a first look at new offensive coordinator Todd Haley and his offense on the field. For some, it will also be the first time that they can start catching the staff’s eye and possibly earning a coveted roster spot.
Unfortunately, the opening day roster is only made up of 53 players. Some will not...
