Found September 19, 2012 on DraftAce:
Houston Texans 1st-round pick Whitney Mercilus was expected to be used as a pass-rush specialist this season, but he’s failed to carve out a niche for himself in the Texans defensive scheme so far. Through two games Mercilus as been on the field for just 24 plays, 18 of them as a pass rusher. In those 18 plays, he’s recorded just one quarterback hurry and zero sacks according to Pro Football Focus. It’s far too early to be concerned about Mercilus, but the Texans defense would definitely benefit from him emerging as a serious pass-rush threat at some point this season.

Texans' offense could be ideal defense vs. Manning

The best way for the Houston Texans to defend Peyton Manning in Denver on Sunday may be to keep him off the field. The Texans (2-0) dominated possession with a punishing running game in last week's 27-7 victory over Jacksonville. Sure, the defense played well again, holding the Jaguars to nine first downs and 117 total yards. But thanks to the well-executed ball-control game...

Houston Texans’ coach fails at math

For something that is more concerning to fantasy football owners than anyone else, Texans running backs coach Chris Harris addressed how carries will be split between starting RB Arian Foster and his backup Ben Tate. From “Ultimate Texans”, the Texans blog in the Houston Chronicle: Obviously having a sixth grade math background isn’t a requirement to coaching in the NFL....

Texans' offense could be ideal defense

HOUSTON (AP) -- The way Houston is dominating possession time, Peyton Manning might expect to spend lots of playing time on the sideline Sunday. The Texans (2-0) kept the ball with a punishing running game in last week's 27-7 victory over Jacksonville. Sure, the defense played well again, holding the Jaguars to nine first downs and 117 total yards. But thanks to the well-executed...

Texans to Watch: Denver Edition

The Texans quietly march into Mile High Stadium this Sunday sporting a 2-0 record, facing what is by far their biggest test of the young season.  The Texans, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, are the #2 ranked team in the NFL, but you’d never know it.  Meanwhile, the Broncos are regrouping after a Monday night defeat against the Atlanta Falcons.  The Broncos made several...

Week 2 Fantasy Football Recap: Texans vs. Jaguars

Houston Texans – 27, Jacksonville Jaguars – 7This game mostly played out exactly as most fantasy prognosticators predicted, which meant lots of running for the Texans, and not much Matt Schaub (192 total yards) passing.  Because the Texans are now a run first and good defense type of team, it’s hard to count on Schaub as anything more than a backup fantasy QB.Hopefully you...

Houston Texans at Denver Broncos: Week 3 NFL Pick

Houston Texans (2-0) at Denver Broncos (1-1) No line has moved more over the past week than this one. Last week, this line was -2.5 in favor of Denver and now it’s -2 in favor of Houston. Why? Because Houston blew out the lowly Jaguars? Because Denver lost by 6 in Atlanta, one of the toughest places to play in the National Football League? I don’t get it. This line should probably...

AFC Player of the Week: Watt, Bush Pick up the Honors for Week 2

Another week in the NFL is in the books on the young 2012 season and already we have seen some monster performances, as well as spectacular let downs. The AFC saw dominating wins from the likes of the Houston Texans and the Miami Dolphins, so it should come as no surprise that they both featured a player that was named an AFC Player of the Week on each side of the ball. On the offensive...
