Meyers Dubbed Most 'Underappreciated' Raider
USA TODAY Sports

Jakobi Meyers has been one of the biggest free-agent signings of the Las Vegas Raiders' offseason, but his status among his wide receiver peers in the league has somewhat flown under the radar.

While Meyers' average of $11 million a year as part of his three-year, $33 million deal is quite the improvement from his $6.016 million made in total over his four years with the New England Patriots, his APY still ranks 26th among all NFL wide receivers.

NFL Network's Cynthia Frelund wrote an article posted on NFL.com on Wednesday in which she named each AFC team's most "underappreciated" player heading into the 2023 season.

Meyers was Frelund's pick for the Raiders on her list.

Of the new Raider wide receiver, Frelund wrote the following:

"As a Patriot last season, Meyers earned 210 yards on crossing routes (fifth most in the NFL). He also posted a career-high 51 receiving yards over expected on all routes (his previous high was 13), 2.2 receptions over expected on go routes (eighth best among NFL receivers) and a 130.5 passer rating when targeted on passes of 10-plus air yards (fourth best in the NFL). There is volume to be had in Meyers' new home with the Raiders, thanks to the exit of tight end Darren Waller this offseason. Defenses will have to figure out both Meyers and Davante Adams; they are a receiving duo for fantasy players to keep an eye on."

Meyers has posted 800-plus receiving yards in each of the last two seasons. In his final campaign in New England, the receiver registered a career-best six touchdowns.

Meyers spent the first four seasons of his NFL career with the Patriots before he signed with the Raiders back in March.

He totaled 2,758 receiving yards and eight touchdowns while in New England and played three seasons under former Patriots offensive coordinator and current Raiders Head Coach Josh McDaniels.

The Raiders' offseason workout schedule is as follows:

OTA Offseason workouts: May 22-23, May 25, May 31-June 2, June 12-15

Mandatory Minicamp: June 6-8
