Miami Dolphins (5-7) at San Francisco 49ers (8-3) The 49ers lost to the Rams last week in St. Louis, which has gotten a lot of Alex Smith supporters saying “I told you so,” questioning Jim Harbaugh’s decision to bench Alex Smith for Colin Kaepernick. These people seem to be forgetting that Smith was losing to those same Rams at home when he got hurt and that he also lost to the Vikings. Oh, and if David Akers had hit a makeable field goal or Delanie Walker hadn’t dropped a very catchable touchdown, the 49ers would have won and we wouldn’t even be having this discussion. Kaepernick gives the 49ers the biggest ceiling and the best chance to win the Super Bowl. He allows them to use the entirety of their complex playbook with his running ability and deep play ability and he hasn’t seemed fazed by the mental part of the complex playbook each, which was formerly Smith’s greatest advantage. He also helps open things up on the ground even more for their tough running game, which is already...

Jim Harbaugh’s Saved By The Bell Episode Goes Viral

These days nothing from your past can be forgotten. Just ask 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh. Back when Jim was playing for Colts, he did an appearance on Saved By the Bell. He was Screech’s cousin and was looking to help teach a kid the importance of playing for the team and not just for yourself. Yesterday the video clip of Harbaugh’s Emmy winning performance was plastered everywhere...

Jim Harbaugh was once Screech's cousin on "Saved by the Bell: The New Class" (Video)

Prior to becoming the head coach of the San Francisco 49ers, Jim Harbaugh was the starting quarterback for the Indianapolis Colts and well, he made a cameo on a season four episode of "Saved by the Bell: The New Class" called "Little Hero". The one of the side plots of the episode followers a character named Eric who is a benchwarmer for the Seaside High football...

Dolphins-49ers Preview

Many have wondered what it would take for San Francisco 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh to give the starting quarterback job back to Alex Smith. Apparently a tough loss isn't it - yet. Colin Kaepernick will make his fourth straight start Sunday as the 49ers host the Miami Dolphins, whose playoff hopes have dimmed while dropping four of five. Kaepernick's crucial turnover on a...

Colin Kaepernick's birth mother hopes to meet someday

San Francisco quarterback Colin Kaepernick's popularity in the NFL has risen since taking over as the starter.  His birth mother, Heidi Russo, who Kaepernick has never met, is a big fan of the young man. Jason Cole of Yahoo! Sports spoke to Russo, who hopes to meet Kaepernick one day.  Russo, 44, is a registered nurse living in a suburb of Denver.  With no father around,...

Behind Enemy Lines: 49ers/Dolphins, Part II

NinersDigest’s Craig Massei and DolphinDigest’s Alain Poupart go Behind Enemy Lines to preview Sunday’s game between the 49ers and Dolphins. What happened to the Dolphins after a promising start? Is new coach Joe Philbin the right guy for the job? How close did the Dolphins come to signing Alex Smith in the offseason? How much does the loss of Jake Long hurt Miami? These Q...

49ers move to 9-3-1 with win over Dolphins

The 49ers improved to 9-3-1 and still keep distance ahead of Seattle and the No.2 seed. However if the offense doesn’t get together and be more consistent, it will be hard to keep that No.2 spot, let alone win the West. Colin Kaepernick finished the day 18 of 23 for 183 and no touchdowns or interceptions. It was very Alexesque, that is until he scored a touchdown on a 50 yard run...

Kaepernick's TD run keys 49ers' victory

SAN FRANCISCO -- The San Francisco 49ers were clinging to a 20-13 lead late in the fourth quarter Sunday against Miami when they called a read-option run, a play quarterback Colin Kaepernick could run in his sleep. Kaepernick, who rushed for 4,112 yards and 59 touchdowns in college for Nevada, faked a handoff on third-and-five to running back Frank Gore, pulled the ball back and...

Miami Dolphins at San Francisco 49ers: Three Bold Predictions

Sunday afternoon in San Francisco the 8-3-1 San Francisco 49ers will be taking on the 5-7 Miami Dolphins.Though the records do not reflect it, this is really a pretty even match-up.Both of these teams boast stout rush defenses with the Niners ranking 3rd allowing 90.6 YPG, and the Dolphins ranking a respectable 8th allowing 97.7 YPG. This should make it hard for both teams to...

NFL Week 14: Five Must Watch Games

Every week I complain about how high up that week number is getting and I’ll be no different with it this week. We’re only a month away from having the 2012 NFL playoffs set and there are some vicious seeding battles ensuing. Some are fighting just to get in, while the big boys are fighting to play in their own friendly confines. With that in mind, here are my five picks of the...

Gameday Deciding Factors: Dolphins at 49ers

Coming off a painful loss to a division rival, the Miami Dolphins (5-7) must travel cross-country to face one of the NFL's most complete teams in the San Francisco 49ers (8-3-1). Ryan Tannehill leads a struggling offense on the road against the league's No. 2 ranked defense, all while being without his best offensive lineman, Jake Long. Miami's defense faces the multidimensional...
