Miami Dolphins' biggest home game of the 2024 season revealed on Tuesday morning
BILL INGRAM/THE PALM BEACH POST / USA TODAY NETWORK

The Miami Dolphins won't have to wait long during the 2024 season to avenge perhaps their most disappointing loss in many years.

The Dolphins will host the Buffalo Bills on Thursday, September 12 in the first Amazon Prime Thursday Night Football broadcast of the season.

The Dolphins ended up their 2023 with a bitter taste in their mouths against their rivals to the north.  The Bills erased a 14-7 Miami lead with two fourth quarter touchdowns to defeat the Dolphins 21-14 and steal away the AFC East in the NFL regular season's final game.

The Dolphins and Bills went through some roster turnover this offseason, particularly the latter.  Buffalo moved on from a number of big-name players in Stefon Diggs, Mitch Morse, Jordan Poyer (now a Dolphin), and Tre'Davious White.  Gabriel Davis signed with Jacksonville in free agency, and Micah Hyde has not been re-signed.

As such, the Dolphins will get a very early test as to whether they're ready to usurp the Bills and claim their first division title since the 2008 season.  It also likely means the Dolphins will end up having to go to Orchard Park, NY later in the season, when the weather starts to become a major factor.

Still, it's an opportunity for the Dolphins to potentially get a momentum and confidence-building win against a team that's simply owned them since Josh Allen came on board.  Or it could be a reality check for Miami early in the season if they're still not able to overcome a Bills team without Diggs - who killed the Dolphins in their first matchup last year - still on the roster.

The full NFL schedule for every team will be released on Wednesday, May 15 at 8:00 pm ET on the NFL Network.
