Rumors and Rants:
One of the really cool stories to come out of this year’s edition of HBO’s “Hard Knocks” was the tale of undersized tight end Les Brown. Unfortunately, that story just ended.
Brown was cut by the Dolphins on Sunday, despite wowing Miami’s coaches with his effort and determination. Brown just couldn’t figure out how to block effectively enough and Miami needed to cut him loose.
The former college basketball star at Westminster college, bulked up to 240 pounds and workout out for NFL scouts at BYU’s pro day in March. He went undrafted, but at 6’4″ and 240 pounds with outstanding athleticism and 4.43 speed, Brown was an intriguing prospect.
The Dolphins brought him in to camp and were impressed with his dedication and work ethic. But he hadn’t played football since high school and it showed in his technique, or lack thereof.
Miami head coach Joe Philbin had the following to say about Brown’s camp:
“I thought he made a lot of progress and came a long way in a relatively short period of t

The Miami Dolphins need to trim their roster to 75 players by 4pm Monday. Following the Dolphins 23-6 loss to the Falcons, they wasted little time in starting the process of getting from 88 players down to the league mandated number of 75. On Saturday, the Dolphins released the following players: Chas Alecxih (DT), Les Brown [...]

The Miami Dolphins needed to cut one final player in advance of the 4pm deadline on Monday to get their roster to 75 players. Julius Pruitt, listed on the Dolphins depth chart as a 2nd team wide receiver, didn’t expect to be that cut. It was thought that Pruitt would be a virtual lock to [...]
DAVIE, Fla. Youd think Clyde Gates would be concerned. The Dolphins have one of the worst receiving corps in the NFL, and Gates isnt even a lock to make the team.
But the second-year man doesnt seem too worried.
They can say what they want to say, Gates said about critics maligning Miamis ball catchers. They doubted Jesus, didnt they?
Perhaps divine intervention will be needed...
DAVIE, Fla. Each year in his NFL career, there were questions surrounding Reggie Bush. Could he live up to being the No. 2 pick in the 2006 draft? Could he be an every-down back? Could he stay healthy?
Now, as Bush prepares to enter his seventh season, critics are having a harder time finding fault with the Dolphins running back. Thats what happens after a 1,086-yard rushing season...
If you are a Miami Dolphins fan, I’m going to throw out a statement that I’ll bet covers about 90% of our fan base at this point in the season, ready for it? HC Joe Philbin and GM Jeff Ireland are not atop your good list. Ok I said it, now are you ready to [...]
Dolphin’s nation it’s time to a big deep breath, yesterday the Dolphins finally had luck on their side as it appears Jake Long’s ankle injury is only a minor tweak and he should even be ready to go for the opener although that has yet to be fully confirmed.
The offensive line would have been quite the mess with rookie Jonathan Martin moving to left tackle in practice as...
The Dolphins released defensive tackle Chas Alecxih, tight end Les Brown, cornerback Marcus Brown, safety Tyrell Johnson, linebacker Josh Linam, running back Jerome Messam, defensive end Jacquies Smith and cornerbacks Trenton Hughes and Jonathan Wade. The team also announced running back Jonas Gray was placed on the PUP/NFI Reserved List. All NFL teams must trim their rosters...
ONE MAN'S OPINION
Warren Sapp had some interesting things to say about the ugly situation between Chad Johnson and Evelyn Lozada. Needless to say, he doesn't think Chad is to blame.
Miami Dolphins offensive tackle Jake Long sustained a leg injury that forced him to leave Monday's practice, although the severity of the injury has not been determined. According to the Miami Herald, Long fell to the ground after blocking in pass protection. He remained on the ground for a few minutes, and eventually got to his feet. Trainers focused on the area between...
As Dolphins fans had their palms covering their faces watching the receiving corps drop pass after pass, one has to start to think how much is this group of receivers going to hold this team back. Before I go into the receiving group let me note that Fasano usually sure handed did not really lend a helping hand either. The Dolphins who have lacked playmakers season after season seem...
Jim Irsay showed his cards for days on Twitter and his prediction proved true Sunday: The Indianapolis Colts have agreed to trade a 2013 second-round pick for Miami Dolphins cornerback Vontae Davis, FOXSports.com has learned.
Davis, the 25th overall pick in the 2009 NFL draft, fills a glaring need for the Colts, who need a starting CB to play opposite Jarraurd Powers. A standout...
