Miami Dolphins’ Odell Beckham Saga: G.M. Breaks Silence on Behind-the-Scenes Talks
Philip G. Pavely-USA TODAY Sports

The Miami Dolphins boasted one of the most prolific offenses in the NFL last season, and even after committing to picking up speedy wide receiver Jaylen Waddle’s fifth-year option, might also be looking to add a third potentially game-altering wide receiver around quarterback Tua Tagovailoa.

While nothing is imminent, Dolphins general manager Chris Grier revealed that talks have taken place with All-Pro wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. , about potentially rounding out Miami’s receiving trio alongside Waddle and Tyreek Hill.

Despite finishing the season as the NFL’s leading offense, averaging 401.3 yards and 29.2 points per game, the Dolphins bowed out of the AFC Playoffs to the eventual Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs on a morbidly frigid AFC Wild Card Weekend.

Adding Beckham would make some sense, as the kind of player who could further elevate Tagovailoa and the Dolphins’ vertical passing game.

Chris Grier Updates Miami Dolphins’ Odell Beckham Jr. Pursuit

As the Dolphins’ offseason program begins, it doesn’t sound as though Beckham Jr. will be pulling on a an aqua and orange jersey anytime soon, but, Grier didn’t dismiss the. notion either.

“Nothing imminent on it,” Grier told reporters at a pre-draft press conference. “We’ve had some discussions back and forth a little bit, but as of right now, there’s nothing in the works to get anything done.”

Beckham Jr. returned to action last season, missing the 2022 campaign with a torn ACL suffered in the Los Angeles Rams’ Super Bowl victory over the Cincinnati Bengals, and caught 35 passes for 565 yards and three touchdowns for the Ravens in 2023.

Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel says that there is definitely a role waiting for the star receiver with 566 career receptions for 7,932 yards and 59 touchdowns, if he chooses to sign in Miami.

“I’m definitely ready to coach him,”  McDaniel told reporters, shortly after Beckham visited Miami. “If we can come to an agreement, and I think both sides are trying to work towards that.”
