Davone Bess is an EXTREMELY driven individual. This Miami Dolphins receiver had to be to overcome some of the hurdles put in his way during childhood, and his early adult years. Every year Bess sets personal goals for himself, then labors to achieve them. But this year I’d like to set a goal for Bess. Actually, it’s more like a challenge for the Dolphins slot receiver, his Bess Route Foundation, and the Miami Dolphins. In the next two or three years I’d love to see Bess win the NFL’s Walter Payton Man of the Year Award, which is given annually to an NFL player for his community service efforts. Former Dolphins Jason Taylor, whose Reading Room in Miramar has changed the lives of hundreds of youngsters, was the last recipient of the award back in 2007. It’s time another Dolphins player stepped up their game and got serious about bringing home this trophy.
