The Miami Dolphins apparently aren’t done trying to upgrade the secondary.
Even though rosters must be trimmed to 80 by Tuesday the Dolphins reportedly added an 81st player when safety Gerald Alexander was signed on Sunday.
Alexander, a four-year veteran who has played for the Detroit Lions, Carolina Panthers and Jacksonville Jaguars, publicized his signing in a series of tweets on Sunday.
“Miami Dolphins!!!!!! LET’S GO!” Alexander wrote.
He also wrote “the ink just dried” when asked if his signing is official, and published a picture of a sign that hangs inside the Dolphins locker room, which reads “Ego’s not allowed.”
The Dolphins have not acknowledged the signing.
The Dolphins already have five safeties on the roster, but it’s possible Tyrone Culver, who is due $1.25 million in base salary, could become a salary cap casualty in the coming days.
