Miami Dolphins sign tackle Isaiah Wynn to new one-year deal
Eric Hartline-USA TODAY Sports

Despite recording another season that ended on IR, former first-round tackle Isaiah Wynn has opted to remain with the Miami Dolphins for the 2024 season. The free agent tackle is signing a new one-year deal with Miami, according to NFL insider Ian Rapoport.

After playing primarily left tackle, and briefly right tackle, for the New England Patriots, Wynn joined the Dolphins in 2023. He became the team’s starting left guard. At guard, he helped the Dolphins reach 11-6 and earn a playoff berth. Unfortunately, a quad injury sent him to IR in October, so he couldn’t help them finish out the run. His 2022 season with the Patriots also ended on IR due to a foot injury.

Wynn is getting ready for his seventh season in the NFL after playing at Georgia from 2015 to 2017. New England selected Wynn as the No. 23 overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft and opted to pick up his fifth-year option.

Despite finding success as a starter, he’s dealt with injuries year in and year out. Wynn hadn’t played in more than 10 games in a season until 2021 when he appeared in 16 games for the Patriots.

Wynn was a first-team All-SEC selection as a junior in 2017 before heading to the NFL. He tore his Achilles prior to his rookie season in 2018.

In addition to NFL free agency, the new year also marks the beginning of all trades being made official by the league office. April 19 marks the deadline to sign restricted free agents to offer sheets. On April 24, the deadline for teams to match restricted free agent offers sheets hits. Following the restricted free agent deadline follows the 2024 NFL Draft, which runs from April 25-27.
