Miami Dolphins tight end Anthony Fasano, whose offensive production has nearly doubled this past month, sat out Wednesday’s practice with an undisclosed injury.

Fasano, who had contributed 15 receptions for 250 yards and three touchdowns, appears to be nursing a right ankle injury.
Fasano, a four-year starter for the Dolphins, had the ankle heavily wrapped during Wednesday’s practice session, and walked gingerly during his rehab assignment.
His status for Sunday’s game will get clarified later this week, but if Fasano doesn’t practice on Thursday expect Charles Clay and Jeron Mastrud to receiver larger roles in the offense.
Clay, the Dolphins’ H-back and backup tight end, has had his workload nearly double the past month. Clay, a rookie from Tulsa the Dolphins drafted in the fifth round, has contributed eight receptions for 133 yards. He leads the team with a 16.6 yards per catch average.
