The Miami Dolphins could really have done with a completely healthy secondary when travelling to face wide receiver A.J. Green and the Cincinnati Bengals this week. Instead, their 30th ranked pass defense will be without starting cornerback Richard Marshall for Sunday's clash at Paul Brown Stadium.

Per Chris Perkins of the South Florida Sun Sentinel, Nolan Carroll will deputise as the starter for Marshall and Miami's been reduced to moving converted safety Jimmy Wilson back to corner and he'll likely play in the nickel package.

Despite having to face the almost unrivalled talents (almost) of Green, Carroll positively can't wait for kickoff, saying, "Every week you get an opportunity you're always going to be excited, and that's what I am."

On the prospect of facing Green, Carroll refreshingly eschewed cockiness, instead choosing to acknowledge what he's up against. "As far as a pure athlete, he's probably one of the best receivers in the NFL," he said of Green.

The Dolphins are giving up 297.8 yards per game through the air this season and Green lies second in receiving yards with 428.

Miami may lead the league in defending the run, but that won't necessarily obstruct any Bengals gameplan this week as the Andy Dalton to Green conduit is Cincinnati's primary area of offensive strength; Marshall's absence only increases that potency.
