The Los Angeles Chargers have allowed cornerback Michael Davis to sign with a new team , and he did so by signing a contract with the Washington Commanders. Much like Keenan Allen, Davis has spent his entire career with the Bolts, making his goodbye to the team that much more bittersweet.
Davis took to Instagram to speak on the Chargers giving him a chance as a professional. Davis was signed as an undrafted free agent in 2017 and spent his time shoring up the secondary. Getting a chance to play at the professional level is special, but even more so for those who go undrafted.
Davis' tribute is written in Spanish, so the loose translation via Google states:
"I don't know what to say.... but you guys were the only team that in '17 believed in me and gave me the opportunity to live my dreams with my family. You invited me into your family with open arms and always supported me with love, patience, and tranquility. That's why I love you and I thank you very much for everything we share and for everything I learned from all of you! I say goodbye to all of you with a big hug and I give you my most sincere thanks. Vato.#43."
Davis gave his thanks to the Chargers for giving him a chance when seemingly no one else would. Though his time with the team has come to an end, he can rebound his career with the Commanders.
