Former Dallas Cowboys wide receiver and current NFL Network analyst Michael Irvin told the Boston Herald that if he had the power to change the name of the Vince Lombardi trophy to help honor Patriots head coach Bill Belichick for winning three Super Bowls, he would.
“I think the world of Belichick,” Irvin said. “I told him this, ‘Man, if it was up to me, that trophy would be called the Lombardi/Belichick.’ I don’t care what they think. It would be called the Lombardi/Belichick. That’s how good he is to do what he’s doing in this day and age, what the league is now. I would call it the Lombardi/Belichick.”
This is a typical Michael Irvin comment. He clearly didn’t think before he started speaking and that’s certainly nothing new. There are other head coaches that have won multiple Super Bowls, such as former Steelers head coach Chuck Noll. I think Irvin suffers from diarrhea of the mouth sometimes.
