I appreciated Marcus Hayes’ story on Andy Reid being guilty of betrayal of his firing of Juan Castillo.
It made sense and Hayes made a good argument for print.
But I don’t think that is the main issue here.
Andy Reid is running for his coaching life and he is taking down whoever gets in his way.
If Jeff Lurie is a man of his words, 8-8 ain’t gonna cut it.
The next cut could be Michael Vick, and when you think about it, with the best chance to get seven more wins, to get to 10, would be done better with Nick Foles?
I don’t think so.
In reality, the speed of the game, especially in crunch time, caught up with Castillo.
He could not make the adjustments nearing the end of the fourth quarter and in overtime.
In fact, the game is sometimes too fast for Andy Reid.
How else do you mismanage the clock and misuse time outs?
Panic. By the head coach.
Do you know who thrives when the game speeds up?
Now maybe, just maybe, the preseason was not a mirage and Nick Foles not only has...

After 14 years, it’s time for the Philadelphia Eagles and Andy Reid and Co. to part ways.
It’s time now. I’ve long supported Andy Reid as a coach. I’ve had my issues with him, but in the end it always came down to who else was out there to take his place. But there are candidates and there also comes a point when change is necessary no matter what. The Eagles are there now...
Andy Reid has been both wildly successful and highly infuriating since he took over the head coaching duties for the Philadelphia Eagles in 1999. He selected Donovan McNabb with his first draft pick as an NFL head coach. With McNabb and the late, great Jim Johnson calling the defense, Reid took the Eagles out of [...]The post Andy Reid Is Running Scared appeared first on The Sports Fan Journal.
The Eagles the last season and a half have not been the team that their high priced payroll and flashy names would suggest. The defense was being helmed by Juan Castillo who was previously the teams offensive line coach.
After losing 8 games in 2011, many of which they led in the 4th quarter, and starting off 3-3 in 2012, with the defense struggling Andy Reid and the Eagles decided...
Eagles: 31st ranked scoring offense. 13th ranked scoring defense. So they fired defensive coordinator Juan Castillo (a former offensive line coach).
It sounds like former Eagles CB Asante Samuel blames Andy Reid for the team’s failures.
