FootBasket:
It’s been a rough year for Michael Vick. No matter what he tries to do, his team can’t seem to pull it out in the game. It either comes off easy, fixable mistakes, problems by the defense, himself or the offensive line.
With all of this, the Philadelphia Eagles currently sit at a 3-5 record, where they could be 6-2 or something like that instead.
Now entering November of the NFL season, the second half of the year has begun as each game is very important to be a playoff-squad. That’s the No. 1 goal for the Eagles this year, or it costs the jobs of many members of this organization, with the most notables being Vick and head coach Andy Reid.
The Eagles will be facing the 3-5 Dallas Cowboys this Sunday, a game in what many are now calling the “Desperate Bowl.” This is a big game, because if the Eagles stand at 3-6 once it’s all said-and-done, Philadelphia can most likely say goodbye to their playoff-chances now.
“We all understand the situation — hopefully everybody understands the situation. I know I do,” Vick told PhillyMag.com. “It’s not a situation we planned on being in. But you’ve seen a lot of teams with their backs against the wall and they come out doing everything they need to do in order to succeed. We’ve got to take on that mindset; we’ll find out on Sunday.”
Vick hopes the Eagles can pull out a win, in which they should. This is the last test to see how much heart this squad really has. Otherwise, we are going to be seeing a lot of free agents come February and March.
“That’s the question: do the other guys — the young guys — understand what’s at stake?” Vick went on. “Not just as far as our careers go, just as far as this organization and winning. That’s what it’s all about. I’m not thinking about next year, I’m not thinking about what’s going to happen. I’m thinking about this very game because that’s what’s more important. We have to live in the now.”
These next eight weeks for this franchise is very crucial; we’ll see what the Eagles do with the first one.
