This week’s edition of Midweek Movie focuses on an important, yet perhaps overlooked, member of the Packers’ offensive machine: James Jones.
Drafted in the third round of the 2007 draft, Jones became an instant contributor to the Packers, finishing his rookie season with 47 receptions for 676 yards. Both stats rank fourth all time in the Packers record books for rookies.
For the next few years though, Jones ranked somewhere underwhelming and uninspiring. Immensely talented but buried on the depth chart behind the likes of Greg Jennings, Jordy Nelson, and Donald Driver, Jones contributed, but not to the extent his ability would take him.
That all changed in 2012.
Jones exploded for career highs in all of the major statistical categories during 2012. 64 receptions, 784 yards, and a league leading 14 touchdown receptions let the league know that James Jones had fully arrived on the scene.
