Everyone Cleveland Browns fan is willing to fire Mike Holmgren and everyone on the Browns coaching staff now, but the progress the Browns will make in 2012 should save his job. I know the Browns are literally defeated this season at 0-4, but the pieces to the puzzle are being filled right in front of our eyes. Firstly under Mike Holmgren in his first draft in 2010, he drafted cornerback Joe Haden, safety T.J. Ward and offensive guard Shawn Lauvao who have become full time starters. He resigned D’Qwell Jackson who is arguably one of the best linebackers in the AFC and everyone knows about quarterback Colt McCoy. Then we fast forward to the 2011 draft which led to the drafting of defensive tackle Phil Taylor, defensive end Jabaal Sheard and cornerback Buster Skrine.… Read more

  • I respectfully disagree. Mike Holmgren is not a qualified GM. Exhibit A was his selection of Shurmur as head coach. The Browns needed much more than a rookie head coach. Holmgren lied to the fans and told them he conducted an "extensive" search. Whoa! EXTENSIVE SEARCH! Who's the big guy coming in? Wow! It's none other than the rookie son of an old coaching buddy from Green Bay. Let's call him, "Little Fritz!"
    Holmgren should be fired on that alone! Shurmur is the antithesis of what the Browns needed in a head coach! They had to go out in the off season and bring in an offensive coordinator to make up for Shurmur's weaknesses. But, Childress is still not calling the plays. The hapless "Little Fritz" is still running an old style WCO and calling his own plays!
    The Browns new owner, Mr. Haslam, "must" clean house and bring in his own people. Make whoesale changes! Modernize the uniforms or even change the colors! This team needs a complete culture change. Change the name to the Cleveland Bulldawgs. That would be a take on the old Cleveland Bulldogs that predated even Paul Brown.
    KEEPING MIKE HOLMGREN WOULD BE COUNTER PRODUCTIVE.
  • How can anyone say holmgren has done a good job. I'll point out one thing that the sports writers have overlooked. The bottom line is wins. Every year has gotten worse under holmgren. The idea of the game is to win, not pick good team members. This year's record don't look as good as last year. We have buffoons as sportswriters!
