After a disappointing playoff loss last Saturday to the 49ers, the Green Bay Packers need to evaluate the direction their defense is headed in under Dom Capers. The Packers defense gave up almost 600 yards to the 49ers offense, which is completely uncalled for. During his closing press conference, Packers head coach Mike McCarthy was asked about Capers’ future. McCarthy said it was “totally premature to make those decisions. But I feel confident he will be here,”according to Tom Silverstein of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. McCarthy stressed no “knee-jerk decisions” would be made, saying that every coach and corner of the roster would be examined closely. McCarthy said he “owed” that to Capers and “no decisions will be made today.” “I feel very confident that Dom Capers will be our defensive coordinator,” stressed McCarthy, per the newspaper, but it was less than a rock-solid vote of confidence. The Packers’ defense has underperformed for the past couple of years, it might be time to let Capers go.   Need NFL Tickets? var _CI = _CI || {}; (function() { var script = document.createElement('script'); ref = document.getElementsByTagName('script')[0]; _CI.counter = (_CI.counter) ? _CI.counter + 1 : 1; document.write(''); script.type = 'text/javascript'; var _CI = _CI || {}; (function() { var script = document.createElement('script'); ref = document.getElementsByTagName('script')[0]; _CI.counter = (_CI.counter) ? _CI.counter + 1 : 1; document.write(''); script.type = 'text/javascript'; script.src = 'http://widget.crowdignite.com/widgets/27484?_ci_wid=_CI_widget_'+_CI.counter; script.async = true; ref.parentNode.insertBefore(script, ref); })(); sr_adspace_id = 1000005525107; sr_adspace_width = 300; sr_adspace_height = 250; sr_ad_new_window = true; sr_adspace_type = "graphic";

Charles Woodson done in Green Bay?

With Charles Woodson turning 37 years-old soon and the fact that he will account for $10 million towards the Green Bay Packers’ salary cap in 2013, it might make sense for them to release  him this offseason. Even though Woodson has been playing at a high level late in his career, it’s simply not worth it for the Packers to have an aging veteran tie up so much money under their...

Difficult decisions coming for Packers' staff

GREEN BAY, Wis. -- The Packers seem like a team that could be making a habit out of trips to the Super Bowl. Armed with the NFL's reigning Most Valuable Player at quarterback, a talented group of wide receivers, an elite pass-rusher in Clay Matthews and a young core built through the draft, Green Bay's roster has most of the important pieces needed to attain that level of...

A Limited Market For Greg Jennings This Offseason?

According to an NFL scout that spoke with Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel, Packers WR Greg Jennings may have a ”much smaller” market for his services than Vincent Jackson had last year. “I put Vincent Jackson last year up in the elite spectrum, a Pro Bowl-caliber player,” the scout said. “He’s also 6-5 and still can do a lot more things. Greg can’t compete with Vincent...
