Coaches take a great deal of pride in the fruit that falls off their coaching tree, and new Miami Dolphins coach Joe Philbin is the first members of Mike McCarthy’s Green Bay staff to get a head coaching job.
He’s the first bird out the nest, and those are always special.
McCarthy, who gave Philbin a glowing endorsement to Dolphins owner Steve Ross, believes his former assistant will do a phenomenal job in Miami.
Here’s what the Packers head coach had to say about Philbin.
(On the qualities of Joe Philbin that convinced him that he could be a NFL head coach) – “I don’t think it’s just one quality, but I know one that will stand out for sure, when it comes to motivating and getting his team ready to win games that’s his communications skills. Joe’s an excellent communicator, has excellent people skills, he is a very strong member of our coaching staff and someone who had excellent relationships not only with our football players but with our whole football program. ...
