Mike McCarthy thinks Cowboys 'improving,' despite quiet free agency
Kevin Jairaj-USA TODAY Sports

As I was looking around at some recent Cowboys news about yesterday I found some comments from I hadn't seen from a few weeks ago.

During the last week of March, McCarthy spoke with Adam Schefter, and some how thinks the team is “definitely improving.”

I think he is nuts, this team has done nothing but gotten worse since February, yet at the same time, he's the , he is suppose to say that.

I get it, the contract situation is a problem, but the front office could have created over $50 million in cap space if they would have done three simple things.

Extend Dak to free up money, and sign Lamb and Parsons and they very well could have created enough space to at least sign depth they lost in the month of March

What He Is Banking On

He said that he excited about the younger players on the roster, yawn.

The return of some injured players like and others, yet you can't tell me that the return of 2 players will outweigh the team losing five or six starters.

Here we go again with thinking the draft will do wonders for them and get them over the top!

They have spent the least amount of money in free agency, obviously with the current situation they are in.

Eric Kendricks is the only external free agent they have signed. He will probably work really well with Mike Zimmer, but outside of that, this coaching is set up to fail in 2024, and he knows it.

Jerry Jones Has Been Through This Before

A little over a week ago, Jerry Jones spoke about the current situation that McCarthy is facing.

“I've had coaches in their final year before,” he said, like when was in his final year of the deal and ended up going 13-3.

“I just am comfortable like this,” Jones said.

Let's be fair, that team Garrett had top to bottom was way better than what this 2024 team is going to look like.

He's got a that may be out the door with him after the 2024 season in Prescott. His room is a ghost town.

He has two solid receivers, one solid , and a lot of question marks down the depth chart at both positions.

The might give up 300 yards rushing a game, no joke.

As the offensive roster sits today it isn't promising.

This team is nowhere near competing after what they lost.

Washington got better, the Eagles got better and well the Giants, who knows, Dallas may finish last in the division if they don't find a way to win games with throwing the ball to 55 times a game.

I'll be the first to tell you I wanted McCarthy gone after the loss to the Packers at home in January, yet you can't expect this man to win with what is going on.

He can say they are improving all he wants, but don't let him or anyone else fool you, this team is not going to be good.

We Have To Be Fair

We wanted to bash him last season for doing what he did, but in 2024, I hope he never punts and goes for it every single time they get the chance. They are going to need 4 downs to win football games.

The room and room are the two above average units they have.

They rest either lost a starter or depth everywhere else.
