Outside of the perception that Mike McCoy possesses “the aura” we’ve frequently talked about during this search for the next Miami Dolphins head coach, one aspect benefiting Denver’s offensive coordinator is the fact he’s actually played quarterback.
You know, that position the Dolphins desperately needs to get better play out of.
I’m told McCoy was more Pat Devlin than Matt Moore as a professional. But getting a cup of coffee in the NFL, even if its as a practice squad player, which he was with the Packers in 1995, is much better than never reaching those heights.
Speaking of heights, the highlight of McCoy’s collegiate career was apparently when he led the University of Utah to its first bowl victory in 31 years, beating Arizona 16-13 in the 1994 Freedom Bowl.
I spent all morning hunting that film, hoping it might provide a few hints on the guy perceived as the front runner to be Tony Sparano’s replacement, and Scott Wagner found it ...
