by Chris BurkeFiled under: CowboysMiles Austin was a breakout star during the 2009 NFL season. The Cowboys are betting a lot of money that he's more than just a one-year wonder. Dallas signed Austin to a six-year contract extension worth a reported $54 million, according to the team's website.
Austin, who had 81 catches for 1,320 yards and 11 touchdowns during a Pro Bowl campaign in 2009, was set to make a little more than $3 million this season after signing a restricted free agent tender. He would have become a free agent following the 2010 season, but instead is now locked up through 2016.
"This is great for me, but the most important thing is to get ready for the Redskins (Dallas' Week 1 foe)," Austin told Nick Eatman of DallasCowboys.com. "That's still the No. 1 goal for me and this team. We want to win as many games as possible." Permalink | Email this | Linking Blogs | Comments
