OK, let's get the obligatory tear-them-a-new-one part of the story out of the way first. The 49ers stunk it up in their season-opener Sunday at Monster Park. They lost 23-13 to the Arizona Cardinals, a team they beat twice last year. They turned to ball over five times and didn't force a single turnover. Quarterback J.T. O'Sullivan threw an interception and lost two fumbles. Takeo Spikes muffed a pooch kick in the third quarter, a mistake that wound up costing the 49ers seven points. Wide receiver Isaac Bruce was invisible. Defensive end Ray McDonald committed a killer but somewhat questionable roughing-the-quarterback penalty. The defense couldn't get off the field in the second half when Arizona ran 43 plays to the 49ers 14. So there you have it, the highlights of the lowlights. I'd rather spend more time on the glass-half-full story line because, frankly, it's just too early in the season to go all-in on 49ers bashing and too disheartening to t...

Arizona Cardinals News: Updating All Things Anquan Boldin Related

49ers QB Alex Smith Injures His Surgically Repaired Shoulder - GridironFans.com

49ers backup QB Alex Smith injured his surgically repaired right shoulder this week and is doubtful for tomorrow's game. That means Shaun Hill will be the back-up and that Michael Robinson would be the emergency back-up. Here's a quote from Mike Nolan: "Yesterday Alex Smith sustained a non-contact injury to his surgically repaired right shoulder. He will be consulting with his surgeon...

Cards Turning a Corner in the First Round

With DE Travis LaBoy being the only real free agent signing of the offseason for team so far, and with Larry Fitzgerald’s contract talks idling in neutral, it appears that the Arizona Cardinals have settled on one course of action: focusing on the draft!!! Let’s face it, until Fitz’...

Fitz Deal Ain't Happenin'

According to Bob Brookover of the Philly News, don't count on Phitzgerald. I'm a die-hard too, but perhaps this will calm all speculation, allow you to eat, sleep and function -- until Philly Brass makes its next power move, via free agency or the draft. A trade for Larry Fitzgerald? Don't count on it By Bob Brookover Inquirer Staff Writer Larry Fitzgerald is...

Matt Leinart Likes Then Young

There was a barrage of traffic yesterday looking for Matt Leinart pictures.  Well, here they are, courtesy of The Dirty. Apparently the Arizona Cardinals quarterback and his buddy Nick Lachey are very very not gay, and into mentoring Arizona’s youth–as in apparently underage Arizona Stat...

Frank Gore Thriving Under Mike Martz

Frank Gore became an elite runningback and a household name after his 1,600+ yards in 2006. He took a huge step backwards, however, in 2007 when he managed just over 1,100 yards. With offensive guru Mike Martz taking over as coordinator in 2008, however, Gore appears to be reaping some early rewards. The San Francisco 49ers currently hold a 7-3 lead over the Arizona Cardinals in...

Jumping the gun on Superbowl favorites.

Espn is already talking about this weeks Giants-Steelers game as a Superbowl preview. Granted both teams are playing great football for the most part but I have to believe they are being a little premature on their predictions. There is no doubt that Pittsburgh has played well despite key injuries and with a very tough schedule. The Giants also look good besides that Cleveland...

Joining The Elite

This season's NFL playoffs have been full of surprises to say the least. I mean, who honestly picked the Arizona Cardinals at the beginning of the season to advance to the Super Bowl? One of the pleasant surprises has been Larry Fitzgerald. Through his splendid play he has cemented his place among the league's elite. Truth be told, Fitzgerald was already among the league...

Amidst All the New, There Just Had to Be Some Old

I like to think of my self as a renaissance guy. I'm nostalgic. I like bringin' up old shit from time to time. But in this new-forming identity of the Kansas City Chiefs, I was afraid that there would eventually be one move of which I was not a fan, and that move happened today when the Chiefs announced that former Arizona Cardinals Defensive Coordinator would become the DC for the Chiefs. I've
