Minnesota Vikings (5-3) at Seattle Seahawks (4-4) I think I preface every single one of my picks on Seattle’s game by saying I love picking their games because of their huge home/road disparity. Dating back to 2007, they are 30-14 ATS at home and 16-30 ATS on the road. They’ve lost their last two after an impressive 4-2 start, including wins over Green Bay, Dallas, and New England at home, and now everyone thinks the sky is falling for this team. The sky isn’t falling. They just went on the road. We’re not getting any line movement away from Seattle from last week to this week, however, because everyone thinks the sky is falling for Minnesota as well. In fact, this line has actually shifted from -3 and -4. However, they may be right when they say the sky is falling for Minnesota. It’s tough to knock a team, especially such a young team, for a bad game on a short week, but, Christian Ponder will need to step it up. In his last 3 games, he’s completed 62 of 104 for 661 yards, 4 touchd...

Can the Seahawks ever be road warriors?

As a lifelong Seahawks fan, that question is something I have pondered over and over again.  The answer I come up with is this:  I just do not know, but it is something that must be figured out in order for them to make the leap from pretender to contender. To be considered a legitimate contender, it simply must happen.  No team can win a Super Bowl, let alone a few playoff games...

Raging spirit dwells within Vikings' Peterson

EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. Adrian Peterson is a beast on the football field, one of the best and toughest running backs in the NFL. This week he turned himself into a beast off the field. For the Minnesota Vikings' Halloween party, Peterson dressed as the Hulk and then tweeted a picture that would make Dr. David Banner proud. And when Peterson is involved, there's no need for any...

Simpson looking to make bigger impact

EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. -- Eight weeks into the season, and four games into his tenure with the Minnesota Vikings, this year hasn't gone the way receiver Jerome Simpson or Minnesota might have planned when the two came to terms on a one-year contract this offseason. Simpson, dealing with a legal issue related to controlled substances, was the troubled, but talented receiver looking...

Peterson on a 300-yard game: 'Yeah, it's possible'

EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. Adrian Peterson was in the middle of answering a reporter's question Thursday, speaking about how he'll do anything to help the Minnesota Vikings succeed.Peterson, coming off back-to-back 100-yard rushing games for the first time this season, said it doesn't matter if he has to have, "100 yards, 80 yards, 60 yards receiving, 300 yards rushing...

Percy Harvin misses practice becuaase of family issue

Earlier today we reported that Vikings wide receiver Percy Harvin missed practice because of a hamstring injury. According to the Pioneer-Press, the real reason Harvin was absent is because he had a family issue to deal with. Minnesota Vikings: Midseason Report Card For Every Unit

The Minnesota Vikings have returned to relevance by winning 5 of their first 8 games this season, eclipsing their total of 3 wins last season. With a signature win against the 49ers, and an embarrassing loss against the Buccaneers, the first half of the season has been a roller coaster ride, but the meat of the schedule comes in the second half as the Vikings have 5 of their 6 division...

Fantasy Dreams 2012 - PJD's Fantasy Football Week 8 Review

There are four players on the Vikings that deserve to be on a fantasy football team this year, and I'm stretching that definition by including the defense. And even then, that's a MAYBE. You have Adrian Peterson and his league leading yardage, Percy Harvin and his league leading receptions, Blair Walsh with his golden leg (probably good for a bye week start) and the Vikings...

Vikings punter Kluwe tries to snap slump

(Eds: Updates. With AP Photos.) By DAVE CAMPBELL AP Pro Football Writer Chris Kluwe still has his day job. He just hasn't been doing it as well as he and the Vikings would like. Minnesota's outspoken punter has a gross average of 43.8 yards per attempt this season. That ranks only 24th in the NFL among those with enough tries to qualify for the leaders, putting him on the...

Seattle Seahawks: Week 9 NFL Power Rankings (#14)

Last week: 14 (-0) Record: 4-4 No the sky is not falling with this team. They just went on the road for 2 games. Everything will be fine this week when the play the Vikings back in Seattle, where they play 5 of their final 8 games. They’ll still be right in the NFC playoff mix, but they will have to win 1 more road game. 9 wins probably won’t cut it in the NFC and that’s assuming...

(Eds: Adds details, quotes. With AP Photos.) By CURTIS CRABTREE Associated Press Eight games into his inaugural campaign as starting quarterback of the Seattle Seahawks, Russell Wilson has begun to find a groove. The Seahawks have put more on Wilson's plate in recent weeks as Seattle has gone to the passing game more frequently. Seattle has averaged over 30 carries a game for...

Are the Vikings too predictable with Simpson?

The Vikings are looking for ways to get Jerome Simpson more involved, and that could start with mixing up his routes. Simpson and Bill Musgrave talked about that, and the stats support it.

Pete Carroll disagrees with Spurrier, doesn’t believe Alabama could compete in the NFL

On Wednesday, Steve Spurrier told The Dan Patrick Show that the University of Alabama football team could compete in the NFL. Former University of Southern California head coach and current Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll shot down Spurrier’s pipe dream. “I was confronted with that at times [at USC] and the falsehood is to think that that could ever take place. It ain’t even...

Vikings secondary in flux after injuries

Key matchup: Running to success
