Photo By: Presswire Before you ask why I will not mention Percy Harvin in this piece, I will let you know that like his allegiance to the Minnesota Vikings he is history. The new guy is in and will not have any of the issues Harvin possessed with the team. So without further ado, the new Vikings do it all playmaker is Cordarelle Patterson. The 29th overall pick in the 2013 NFL Draft out of Tennessee. The Vikings traded up to get him with the Patriots draft pick. At Tennessee Patterson scored at least one touchdown via reception, rush, kick return and punt return, with 10 total touchdowns in 12 games. This includes a punt return and kickoff return and three rushing touchdowns and five receiving scores. When watching film of him its easy to be astonished by his flat out speed. After all he did run a 4.33 40 yard dash at the scouting combine. But, the most intriguing attribute that I think Patterson posses is his elusiveness. In his kickoff return touchdown against ranked opponent Mississippi State I counted six guys who were in position to make a play on him. He literally planted his foot effortlessly in the ground and didn’t slow down at all. This is something the Vikings haven’t consistently had in a while. The guy who we shall not speak of was explosive, but he wasn’t in the lineup enough to make the impact he made in his first seasons with the team. Another thing I love about Patterson is his size. At 6′ 2″ 216 lbs with reliable hands Patterson can go up and grab everything in sight. His lateral movement mixed with his size is incredible. Maybe even mind blowing. Photo By: Ben Volin At receiver Patterson is very raw. He played two years at the junior college level before playing one season with Tennessee. His route running and coverage reads need work. That shouldn’t worry Vikings fans with the veteran Greg Jennings around I see major improvement for the rookie. While he is a developmental prospect in the passing game, he will light it up no matter how the team decides to get his hands on the ball. Patterson was used in every possible way with Tennessee. He scored touchdowns out of the backfield, through the air, and returning kicks. If that doesn’t scream playmaker then I don’t know what will. I believe the Vikings will use him the same way Tennessee used him. Everywhere Take Our Poll
