PLAYERS: Matt Cassel
TEAMS: Minnesota Vikings
The Minnesota Vikings haven’t necessarily played their best football since the beginning of this season. Off to a 1-3 start, the team is hoping to reproduce their first win of the season next week against the Carolina Panthers. The team has many issues to work out before they can get the 2013 season back on the right path. Speaks for itself..(Photo: Adam Hayes) It all starts at quarterback. There are two differing opinions out there on the situation: those who think Matt Cassel should be the starter next week and those who believe Christian Ponder should take the starting position over again(Leslie Frazier). I think I made my opinion very clear in saying that. I believe Ponder’s time at quarterback should be over, but hey I don’t make the decisions for the team. That is unfortunate because the coaching staff is behind Ponder. I understand their allegiance to the guy, but the difference Cassel made in the flow of the offense was nothing short of a miracle after the way Ponder began the season. I don’t think it’s wrong to bench Ponder even if he is completely healthy. Don’t get me wrong I like the guy and hope for his success, but there comes a point when enough is enough. Hopefully, the coaching staff doesn’t learn the hard way by putting Ponder in and losing another game. Luckily the Panthers have had their fair share of issues so far this season. For Vikings fans it will be a waiting game. The secondary is my other cause for concern. Not only have there been injuries keeping the best rotation from the games but the guys who are on the field aren’t getting it done. They have given up big plays in key moments of the game. Giving up game winning drives to the Bears and Browns. Not to mention their near collapse against the Steelers. There comes a time when the secondary has to step up and make plays. I realize the rest of the defense has missed a ridiculous amount of tackles but the secondary needs to pick up the slack to help the rest of the defense. It’s up to the secondary to stop teams on third down instead of letting the opposing offense move the chains. The defense as a whole looks good at many moments, however for every great play they make there are three bad ones. Will the Vikings keep it together and win another one at “home”? That is for you to decide Take Our Poll

Don't Worry, We Have Shirtless Pictures of Josh Freeman

Josh Freeman was introduced as the newest member of the Minnesota Vikings yesterday, and the biggest question that was raised was; Are there any shirtless pictures of Josh Freeman? Well, you are in luck, because yes there are. AND SO MUCH MORE. First, let's get to know Mr. Freeman a little bit more. If you watch his welcome interview on, one big item you...

Vikings made no promises to new QB Josh Freeman

EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. -- Josh Freeman said he followed his heart. Rick Spielman ignored his. After a tumultuous end with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Josh Freeman chose to sign with the Minnesota Vikings, eschewing offers from several other teams because he said he felt comfortable about the situation and opportunity with Minnesota. Spielman jumped on the chance to add Freeman, bringing...

The Story: Josh Freeman signs with the Minnesota Vikngs

The long and entertaining story of Josh Freeman is moving to Minnesota, after the disgraced quarterback struck a one-year deal worth three million dollars with the Vikings. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers selected Freeman with the 17th overall pick in the 2009 NFL draft, after a stellar three-year career at Kansas State University.Head coach Raheem Morris handed the 6'6" quarterback...

Josh Freeman is in Minnesota now

I read a post at Grantland when Josh Freeman was benched that painted the picture of a quarterback that was teeming with talent, but was so misused and was neglected the opportunity to develop that his career has fallen apart. Bill Barnwell brought up some interesting points and had good observations on Freeman’s career, that I think all Vikings fans should check out. I’ll boil...

Vikings agree to terms with former Bucs QB Josh Freeman

EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. (AP) -- Minnesota's starting quarterback this week will be Matt Cassel or Christian Ponder, not Josh Freeman. Beyond Sunday, there's no guarantee. The Vikings were finalizing Freeman's contract Monday. He didn't make it in time for practice but was scheduled to arrive later in the day. Coach Leslie Frazier said there's not enough time for...

Josh Freeman will be a better Viking than Christian Ponder

Vikings head coach Leslie Frazier said Josh Freeman won’t start at quarterback this Sunday when the Carolina Panthers travel to Minnesota. The 25-year-old Freeman signed with Minnesota three days after getting clipped by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on October 3. Freeman struggled mightily this season over three games as a Buc and completed an abysmal 45.7 percent of his 94 attempts...

Minnesota Vikings and Josh Freeman: two trainwrecks unite

Josh Freeman or Christian Ponder? Hmm, that’s tough. Christian Ponder or Josh Freeman? Sounds like a sink-or-sink opportunity for the Minnesota Vikings. And that’s ironic because Vikings are known for their prowess in shipping. Josh Freeman has agreed to one-year deal worth $3M with the Vikings, according to Mike Garafolo of Fox Sports 1. So what happens now? Has anyone seen...

Bye week not always a blessing

Minnesota, Pittsburgh, Tampa Bay and Washington all had byes in Week-5. The four teams that didn't play this weekend have a combined 2-14 record, but the week off may have been just what the doctor ordered and not only for the obvious reasons. Yes, Minnesota took the weekend to evaluate their quarterback play and then make a run for Josh Freeman -- who they successfully signed...

Economics, chemistry paramount with the QBs

Christian Ponder earns the least of the top three QBs on the roster, but he is the only one with a contract into 2014 with Matt Cassel’s option to opt out. The economics and statements around the Vikings’ quarterback position are upside down right now, and that’s more revealing with the ranking of salaries on the roster.

Freeman picks Vikings as destination for his reclamation

The Minnesota Vikings appeared to further cut the cord with third-year QB Christian Ponder Sunday night when it was announced that they signed Tampa Bay castoff Josh Freeman. Reports suggest that Freeman signed a one-year deal for around $3 million. Ponder’s future already seemed in question when the 0-3 Vikings turned to Matt Cassel and emerged from London with a win that kept...

Josh Freeman signs with Minnesota Vikings

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers finally granted Josh Freeman his wish last week and released him. Multiple reports suggested that the Buccaneers contacted all 31 other teams around the league in order to strike a deal for a trade, but with every other team knowing he would eventually be released, coupled with his remaining salary, the Buccaneers could not find a trade partner. Freeman...

Just three days after Josh Freeman was released by the only team he’s ever known, the fifth-year quarterback has reportedly signed with the Minnesota Vikings.
