Fairly big news in New York Jets world has developed today, as Muhammad Wilkerson was in a pretty serious car accident on the Garden State Parkway. No injuries were sustained to either Muhammad Wilkerson or the Toyota Sienna he struck, which had 10 passengers in it? Alcohol is not believed to have been the cause of the accident, although the police are charging Mo Wilkerson with careless driving and failure to maintain lanes.
New York Jets defensive tackle Muhammad Wilkerson, the team’s first-round draft pick in 2011, was treated for “minor injuries” after he was involved in an accident on the Garden State Parkway early Saturday morning in which the car he was driving overturned after striking another vehicle, a police spokesman confirmed.
Wilkerson was transported to a Newark hospital after he crawled out of his car, according to New Jersey Garden State Trooper Christopher Kay, who added that there did not appear to be any other serious injuries suffered by anyone in the car that Wilkerson struck.
Kay said Wilkerson was charged with careless driving and failure to maintain his lane after he struck a Toyota Sienna with his 2011 Dodge Challenger, according to the police report. Police responded after being notified of the accident at 4:29 a.m. on Saturday.

Who knows why Muhammad Wilkerson was cruising the Garden State Parkway at 4AM, but thankfully alcohol wasn’t involved and no one was hurt. I’m sure the rest of the Jets fans are as happy as I am that Mo Wilkerson avoided a Braylon Edwards type fiasco DUI, but athletes should really try to avoid situations like this all together. Even if Muhammad was completely sober, driving on the GSP at 4AM, you’re surely tired and accidents happen. Just go home and go to sleep man! Nothing good comes out of late nights with expensive/fast cars.
