The Buffalo Bills announced yesterday that they had released third string running back Tashard Choice and filled his open roster spot with former Kansas City tight end Tony Moeaki. The third year pro has had an interesting NFL career thus far as he joins the Bills in hopes of getting his once promising career back on track. A third round pick out of Iowa, Moeaki starred in his rookie campaign with 47 receptions for 556 yards and three touchdowns. He was the second leading receiver for a then playoff bound Chiefs team and was viewed as a safety blanket for then quarterback Matt Cassel to rely on. His second year was lost to a torn ACL, and this year he has been hampered with a shoulder injury. But the reason why this is smart a smart signing has less to do with what he can do immediately, instead it’s about what he can do in the future for the Bills. Though there is not much to differentiate between the Moeaki and current Bills starter Scott Chandler, there is a certain level of a...

Bills release Tashard Choice, sign Tony Moeaki

Earlier today the Buffalo Bills released running back Tashard Choice. The Buffalo Bills have the fourth-ranked run game in the NFL, but with four games left in the season the club may be looking to give younger players an opportunity. Buffalo released veteran reserve running back Tashard Choice Wednesday. This afternoon Buffalo signed former Chiefs tight end Tony Moeaki. Moeaki is...

Buffalo Bills sign former Chiefs TE Tony Moeaki

Tight end Tony Moeaki will get what's essentially a four-week tryout in Buffalo to show he's healthy after being signed by the Bills. The former Chiefs player has been out since breaking his shoulder in Kansas City's preseason win over Pittsburgh on Aug. 23. He was then released by the Chiefs after reaching an injury settlement in October. At 6-foot-3. 252 pounds, Moeaki...

EJ Manuel prepares for another fellow rookie

While EJ Manuel has played well at times, and the Buffalo defense has been much improved since the Dark Days of Wannstedt, it hasn’t been enough to pull the Buffalo Bills out of the AFC dump for a 14th straight year. At 4-8, this goose is cooked. Once again, the Bills face another December full of meaningless games played only for pride. A win will be met with bitter derision,...

Fred Jackson and CJ Spiller protesting the Tashard Choice release?

After veteran running back Tashard Choice was released earlier Wednesday, fellow running backs Fred Jackson and C.J. Spiller both wore his No. 20 practice jersey during drills that were open to reporters and cameras. It could be simply a case of both players honoring their former teammate, who had been with the Bills since 2011. […]

Bills remain work in progress under coach Marrone

Buffalo Bills coach Doug Marrone has gradually come to the same realization his four immediate predecessors encountered during their first years on the job. Transforming the Bills into winners doesn't happen overnight. Though not counting the Bills out just yet, Marrone grudgingly acknowledged this week that the high expectations he had after taking over in January have begun...

Bills cut little-used veteran running back Choice

The Buffalo Bills have cut little-used veteran running back Tashard Choice. The team announced the move in a one-sentence release issued on Wednesday before the Bills (4-8) returned to practice to prepare for their game at Tampa Bay (3-9) on Sunday. Choice is a six-year NFL veteran, who was in his third season in Buffalo. He ranks third on the team with 126 yards rushing behind...

Bills cut RB Choice, sign TE Moeaki

Most of the time, when a team is 4-8 and basically out of the playoff race, there is a slow-down of roster moves made as the offseason is prepared for and the rest of the season is played out. Will Moeaki make a difference in Buffalo?(Photo courtesy www.zimbio.com) Apparently no one told that to the Buffalo Bills. Today the Bills released veteran running back Tashard Choice, who...

Bills cut Tashard Choice, add TE Moeaki

The Buffalo Bills released their Bills third-leading rusher Tashard Choice Wednesday in a move that caught his fellow Bills running backs by surprise. "I was completely surprised," Jackson said, via ESPN.com. "He's a guy that has been contributing not only on special teams, but he played a lot in the games, too. It was shocking, but he's a tremendous player...

Stephon Gilmore's Sophomore Slump

Stephon Gilmore is the Buffalo Bills top corner back, a fact that was solidified when he was drafted 10th overall in 2012 out of South Carolina. Gilmore fits the role of a fast, tall shut down corner that can lock up against the opponent’s best receiver and hold them in check. After a promising rookie campaign the Bills new coaches and fans were looking for Gilmore to develop further...

Bucs keys to the game against the Bills

The Bucs play host to the Buffalo Bills this Sunday at Raymond James Stadium. This game could start a string of “must-win” games for not only the players but potentially the entire coaching staff.  The Bills have a 4-8 record and much like the Bucs feel their talent does not resemble their wins and losses. Below are three keys to the game that should help the Bucs defeat Buffalo...

Two-tight end set: Bills reunite Chandler, Moeaki

BY DAN BEGNOCHEWith the release of running back Tashard Choice, Buffalo had a roster spot to fill. That spot went to former Kansas City Chiefs tight end Tony Moeaki. The question now is where the 26-year-old fits into the offense, and the answer might be alongside his former Iowa teammate, fellow tight end Scott Chandler."I came when he was a junior and we both worked together...

Charges Dropped in Buffalo Bills Prank Phone Call Case

PHOTO COURTESY: ASSOCIATED PRESS As the saying goes, “The jokes on you.”  After a weird prank phone call earlier this year, then Buffalo Bills general manager Buddy Nix thought the joke was on him.  But after the charges were dropped on Wednesday, who is the joke on now? The two Massachusetts men who planned the prank will escape with an undisclosed penalty that they will have...

Bills’ Stevie gets a wake-up call

Stevie Johnson has heard all the calls for his head. Critics of the Buffalo Bills’ receiver have sounded off this week on talk radio, going as far as calling for him to be released following his crucial fumble during Sunday’s overtime loss to the Atlanta Falcons in Toronto’s Rogers Centre. “It makes me work harder. It wakes me up,” Johnson said of the feedback he’s...

Bills Seem to Want Out of Playing in Toronto, But Five-Year Pact Signed in 2013 Will Make That Tough

Never mind London, the Buffalo Bills are becoming less and less enchanted with the idea of playing across the border in Canada. The Bills have an annual series going over the border in Toronto, which features the team playing at least one regular-season game at the Rogers Centre each year. The Bills’ 34-31 overtime loss to the Falcons on Sunday marked the sixth straight season...

Beyond the stats: Big Ben to EJ (Volume VI)

Two weeks after a great performance at Ralph Wilson Stadium against the Jets, EJ Manuel played well but didn’t shine against the Falcons in the Rogers Centre. Week 13 was Manuel’s eighth game and his fourth game away from Orchard Park. Manuel’s completion rate in the Bills’ home stadium is 64.7%, compared to 52.6% in other venues. He also averages 1.9 more yards per pass...
