There  is no other way to lead a recap of Sunday’s games than with a discussion of Doug Martin’s effort. I spent the week talking about how the loss of the best guard in football may have an impact on this line (lets give Tampa’s o-line some credit, too) and the run game. Martin and his teammates proved me wrong on game day. Oakland fought valiantly to stay in this game, but, Martin’s 2nd half response to their scores was unequivocal. He was not going to let Tampa lose this game, his response to Oakland’s methodical, 12 play drives to try to get back into the games was – more than once – to slam the door shut with a 60+ yard score… an impressive effort, one which we all need to take notice of.

A full discussion of Martin's day and a blow by blow of what else we noticed from Sunday follows.

Another Cowboys debacle against Falcons

After last night’s prime time loss – in which many folks are choosing to focus on whether or not Atlanta did enough to wow us, rather than on how Dallas failed to take advantage of an Atlanta squad that they held out of the ‘wow zone’ – those who are fans of the Cowboys are questioning their team, their quarterback, their owner and their coach. Nothing new there… but...

By the numbers: Peterson’s HOF standing

Adrian Peterson leads the league in rushing yards less than a year after ACL surgery, but his career statistics are just as impressive as his 2012 stats. Where does he stand currently in comparison to Hall of Fame running backs? Plus, a look at the numbers and rankings between the Vikings and Seahawks.

Jason Garrett should be Stripped of his Play Calling duties

Well, we’re officially halfway through the 2012 season and we’re sitting two below .500 at 3-5. What’s next for this team is anyone’s guess, what I do know is that Jason Garrett should either relinquish his play calling duties or they should be stripped in favor of Bill Callahan. For the remainder of the season, we should roll with Callahan and see where he can take us. There...

Cowboys coach Garrett keeping focus on next game

Dallas Cowboys coach Jason Garrett is keeping his focus on the next game, the way he always does. As for any questions about his future, or the possibility of being replaced by Sean Payton, Garrett said his focus Monday was on cleaning up mistakes from Sunday night's loss at Atlanta and starting to prepare to play at Philadelphia. Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said he has '...

Garrett ignoring speculation on his job security

Dallas Cowboys coach Jason Garrett said he ignores the speculation that Saints coach Sean Payton could take his job while also saying the Cowboys are close to turning things around. Garrett addressed a number of issues during his Monday press conference, less than 24 hours after a 19-13 loss to the Falcons, but the most tension-filled moments came when he was asked about the Payton...

Adrian Peterson’s heroism being wasted in Minnesota

I won’t get into the recovery timeline on Adrian Peterson’s ACL injury, short of saying that its quite amazing that he was on the field for week 1 and his production ever since has been amazing. Getting himself to the field for week 1, in my eyes, was heroic. What he’s doing out there, on a surgically repaired leg or not, is also worthy of our admiration. Through 9 weeks...

Peterson over 100 at half, Vikings trail

Despite a 144-yard rushing effort from Adrian Peterson in the first half, the Vikings trailed the Seahawks at the half, 20-17.

Martin sets Bucs' rushing record in Oakland homecoming

OAKLAND, Calif. -- Tampa Bay Buccaneers rookie running back Doug Martin celebrated his Northern California homecoming with a record-setting day Sunday against the Oakland Raiders at the O.co Coliseum. Martin rushed for a team-record 251 yards and four touchdowns on 25 carries, leading the Bucs to a 42-32 victory over the Raiders. He broke James Wilder's record of 219 yards...

Vikings limited by continued passing woes

Running back Adrian Peterson was ready for the Seattle Seahawks. The rest of the Minnesota Vikings weren't in Sunday's 30-20 loss that kept Minnesota's recent slide going. Minnesota ran for 243 yards as a team, with Peterson going for a season-high 182 yards, but it wasn't enough as the Vikings (5-4) lost for the third time in four games. Many of the same issues...

Martin Sets High Score on Dig Doug

There were concerns after Pro-Bowl guard Nicks went down for the rest of the season.  People were saying that the statement game against Minnesota was now also the swan song for Doug Martin and his season.  Well just letting you all know the Martin show might have been cancelled but it looks like this one will survive it’s first season.  One week in without Nicks and Martin...

Seahawks show they can and throw

Marshawn Lynch ran for 124 yards and a touchdown, rookie QB Russell Wilson threw three first-half touchdowns, and the Seattle Seahawks overcame 182 yards rushing by Adrian Peterson in a 30-20 win over the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday. The matchup between the top two rushers in the NFL - Peterson and Lynch - didn't disappoint with Peterson having his best game since 2008. Lynch...

Seahawks 30, Vikings 20

SEATTLE -- The feet of Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson and running back Marshawn Lynch were enough to outcome those of Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson. Wilson's scrambling and Lynch's rumbling helped Seattle take a 30-20 win over the Vikings on a clear and unseasonably warm afternoon Sunday at CenturyLink Field. Wilson completed 16 of 24 passes...
