We have an AFC West showdown tonight as the San Diego Chargers travel to Kansas City to face off against the Chiefs.  Right now the current line has the Chargers giving Kansas City 3 points, while the over/under hasn’t moved much and sits at 44.5. Philip Rivers is losing it, look for him to lose it a little more tonight. First glance has this game looking like blowout with the first place Chargers against the hapless Kansas City Chiefs.  The Chargers are currently at a 4-2 record, but some could say that they are the worst NFL division leader at the current time.  Their only games against good teams came on the road in New York against the Jets as well as in New England against the Pats.  Who have they beat? Well the Minnesota Vikings, Kansas City Chiefs (earlier this year by 3 points), Miami Dolphins, and the Denver Broncos.  None of those were even close to being impressive wins. Let’s just say the start the Kansas City Chiefs had to the season is one to forget, losing...

What has happened to San Diego Chargers QB Philip Rivers this season?

Something has to wrong with San Diego Chargers QB Philip Rivers this season, he is playing horrible. In the first quarter of tonight’s Monday Night Football game, Rivers has thrown another pair of interceptions. Yes, one pick was because of a deflection, but Rivers does not look to be the same quarterback he has been the past few seasons. Philip Rivers now is the NFL leader...

Why Do I Love when Philip Rivers Fails So Much?

And here’s how it went down last night:  Up and down the sideline, the Kansas City Chiefs were telling each other the game wasn’t over. Didn’t matter that Philip Rivers was under center with less than a minute left, and that Nick Novak was poised to kick the winning field goal for San Diego.   What mattered was that Rivers was about to choke, and choke big...

Chargers' Rivers did not hear fireworks before fumbled snap

A flurry of fireworks could be heard going off outside of Arrowhead Stadium right before Philip Rivers' now-infamous snap, but the Chargers' QB said the noise had no effect on the botched play.

Rivers fumbles away Chargers' chance for win

Philip Rivers put his hands under center and called for the snap, one that would have moved the San Diego Chargers to the brink of victory.

Norv Turner May be a Destructive Influence on Rivers, Chargers

Unlike the past few years, the San Diego Chargers started their season strong; leading the AFC West Division and racking up four wins early in the season. For a team that started last season at 0-1 before quickly sliding to 3-5 by this time last year, that’s a great record. The game against the New York Jets looked promising with the Bolts taking an early lead and ending...

Botched snap will forever haunt Rivers should Chargers fail to win West

One snap changed everything for Philip Rivers’ already dinged up reputation.  Now he has the rest of his career to live up to it, or let it define him SCOTT JACOBS All Philip Rivers had to do was protect the ball.  The Chargers and Chiefs were deadlocked at 20 in a critical AFC West showdown on a cool Halloween night at Arrowhead Stadium.  A raucous crowd had propelled Kansas...

Fumbled snap just latest of many errors made by bolts

After several hours in which he and the Chargers could barely hear themselves think, Philip Rivers could barely be heard. His voice was as low as his spirits.

Chargers Need Rivers to Find Form Quickly

Philip Rivers might have had more difficult games from a statistical perspective, but Monday night's loss had to be emotionally draining, and Len Pasquarelli says there could be merit to those who believe the Chargers quarterback is playing through an injury. Whatever the reason, Rivers' slide leaves the Chargers in a precarious situation in the suddenly deadlocked AFC West.

MNF on Halloween: Chiefs vs. Chargers

A few weeks back I posted a long column on just how deceiving the San Diego Chargers record was. Chargers QB Philip Rivers has had a dreadful season, while TE Antonio Gates has struggled with injury, and Coach Norv Turner continues to call plays like he has never seen a football game. This is the same guy that Miami Dolphins fans screamed to have ousted while he was their OC. This...
