Found May 07, 2013 on Total Titans:
Next up on my series of somewhat more in depth profiles of the 2013 Titans draft class is their fourth round pick, Cal center Brian Schwenke. I think I've said this before, but at center there are two big distinctions. First, a center's job is to snap to ball and, for most teams, to make the line calls. Do the coaches have confidence in his ability to do these two things? If yes, then you can go on to the other questions. If not, then the player is a guard rather than a center. 2012 was Schwenke's first year at center after playing at guard his first three seasons, and his inexperience at the position was apparent early in his shotgun snaps. Too many of them were low in Cal's early season game against Ohio State. Per scouting reports, that was something he improved at as the season wore on, and improved technique work at the NFL level should continue to improve. Still, I'll be keeping my eye on it going forward. At the same time, according to draft analyst Er...

Titans hit first OTAs eyeing position battles all over roster

NASHVILLE, Tenn. By the time training camp opens in late July, the roster of the Tennessee Titans will swell to 90 players. By the time camp ends a month or so later, that roster will be whittled down to 53 survivors. But with the unprecedented aggressiveness of signing more than a dozen free agents coupled with filling even more immediate needs through the recent draft, the Titans...

Tennessee Titans Select CB Blidi Wreh-Wilson in 2013 NFL Draft

3.8 Tennessee Titans Blidi Wreh-Wilson, CB, Connecticut (6-1, 195) The Titans must have liked Blidi Wreh-Wilson a lot to take him in the third round. They had more pressing issues but drafting Blidi will provide depth behind starters Jason McCourty and Alterraun Verner. The Titans are likely to switch to more man-to-man press coverage in 2013 and that’s exactly what Wreh-Wilson...

S Pollard part of Titans' new aggressive attitude

New Titans safety Bernard Pollard promises that Tennessee's revamped defense will be aggressive and ready to fight in what he calls ''smack you in the mouth'' football. And whatever is said in the Titans' building among coaches and players will be staying there too. The Titans have been busy this offseason trying to fix a defense that gave up a franchise...

Why The Tennessee Titans Will Make The Playoffs

The Tennessee Titans don't have one of the nicest schedules, especially when you face the Seahawks and the 49ers back to back. Titans Sign RB Jalen Parmele and Waive Jamie Harper

Today, the Titans made a switch among their running backs, signing Jalen Parmele and waiving Jamie Harper. Harper was used as a short-yardage back and not much else. He was made expendable due to the signing of Shonn Greene this off-season. Parmele will give the Titans depth at RB and provide them with another receiving back. He can also help out on special teams returning kicks...

More on Zaviar Gooden

When Andrew wrote up the selection of Missouri linebacker Zaviar Gooden with the Titans' third-round compensatory pick, 97th overall, his reaction was a common one. Gooden is a weakside linebacker. The Titans already have a starting weakside linebacker, Zach Brown, whom they drafted in the second round last year. Brown has plenty of room for improvement, but looked pretty good...

More on Lavar Edwards

Next up as I look in more detail at the Titans' draft picks (yes, I intentionally skipped Blidi Wreh-Wilson for now and am coming back to him) is fifth-round defensive end Lavar Edwards from LSU. My initial reaction when the Titans selected Edwards in the fifth round, my initial reaction was he was a good fit for the tweener player Jerry Gray seems to like and didn't...

Titans waive third year RB Jamie Harper

The Tennessee Titans have waived their 2011 4th round pick Jamie Harper. Harper had 36 carries for 74 yards (2.1 avg.) and 4 scores during his two seasons backing up Chris Johnson. He is 23 years old from Clemson - 5'11" 233lb. I'd expect Harper to draw interest from teams looking for depth at the running back position. On March 13th, Shonn Greene signed a three-year...
