Found October 11, 2011 on Niner Noise:
Nose tackle Isaac Sopoaga, who missed Sunday’s game due to a staph infection, left the 49ers’  facility Monday morning with his left arm in a sling.  Now I’m no Doctor but a staff infection isn’t something that usually requires a sling.  If Sopoaga is out for an extended period it would be a big hit to a 49er front 7 that has played great through 5 games this season. The 49ers have not commented on Sopoaga’s status nor any precautions the organization have taken as a result of Sopoaga’s condition.Sopoaga has played great thus far this season moving over to NT after the 49ers let free agent Abrayo Franklin walk.  Not only has Sopoaga played well at NT but Defensive End Ray McDonald who was resigned to a $20M deal to start at DE esentially replacing Franklin in the lineup has played terrific to open the season making the decision to shift around the DL to better suit Coordinator Vic Fangio look brilliant. … [visit site to read more]More Than Just a Staph Infection? 49ers Sopoaga’s Lef...

Rogers dreamed about his TD (and studied the Dougie)

How will 49ers cornerback Carlos Rogers prepare for Sunday's matchup with Detroit wide receiver Calvin Johnson, the first player in NFL history with nine touchdown receptions in the season's first five games? If Rogers follows last week's successful script, he'll study video ? on YouTube to brush...

49ers continue rise with 48-3 blowout of Bucs

For anybody who questioned whether new coach Jim Harbaugh could turn around the downtrodden San Francisco 49ers in a hurry, his team is giving every indication this year will be different from the franchise’s struggles over much of the past decade. How different? How about Sunday’s 48-3 thrashing of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, a team that beat the Niners by three touchdowns last season.

Carlos Rogers Couldn’t Wait to Leave the Redskins

Carlos Rogers is happy and excited to be playing for the San Francisco 49ers.  Rogers spent his first six NFL seasons with the Washington Redskins and was often criticized for dropping a lot of easy would be interceptions.  During his time in Washington DC,  Rogers never recorded more then two interceptions in a season.  He only tallied eight [...]

Vernon Davis: Buccaneers gave up on Sunday

At 4-1, the San Francisco 49ers are one of the real surprise teams of this young NFL season. Not only do they already have a two-game lead in their division, but they've got the NFL's best point differential through five games at +64. Their strategy, apparently, is to make opposing teams quit. It's not easy to do, but if you can execute it consistently, it's pretty...

Newest 49er Taylor has strong NFL bloodlines

Kerry Taylor's current claim to fame? He's the nephew of former 49ers wide receiver John Taylor. But the Niners evidently think the younger Taylor could make a name for himself in the NFL. San Francisco signed Taylor (6-0, 197), an undrafted rookie, to the practice squad today after announcing...

49ers' show of force results in rout

SAN FRANCISCO – Jim Harbaugh and the 49ers accomplished something Sunday that had been elusive for predecessor Mike Singletary over the past 2 1/2 seasons: They imposed their will on an opponent.
